Toddler behavior problems?

hypnotik61

I am a stay at home Mom to a 2 year old little man. He just turned two a few weeks ago, and just like clockwork, he entered into the "terrible twos" a week before his birthday.

He is really pushing me and my husband to our limits. He doesn't want to do anything anymore, and will scream and kick at you if you try to dress him, give him a bath, etc. I can't walk into the other room for 5 seconds without him panicking and calling my name. If I don't come running right away, he gets angry and starts throwing things.

The one thing that has got us frustrated beyond belief, is he will not eat. I am so lucky to get one meal in him everyday. We took him to the doctor, and the doctor said he wasn't worried about his eating, that his weight was normal, and this is pretty common.

I am trying my best to ignore his horrendous behavior, but sometimes it's just too much. This isn't just little tantrums here and there, he is acting like this all day, everyday, if I'm not constantly playing games with him. I don't know what to do. As much as I would love to, I can't spend my whole day as his playmate. He never went through separation anxiety like this before now.

Please, we need some advice!! Thanks!

Answer
These are punishments and disciplining methods to use:
Next time he does it say no and tell him why it is wrong
If he does it again put him in time out
If that doesn't work then put him in time out for a little longer and take his favorite toy away for a couple days
If that doesn't work put him in time out then spank him. It won't harm a child. In the old testament it says spare the rod and spoil the child. The best way to do it is to turn him over, spank his bare bottom twice with an open hand but only give him two because of how young he is. Don't do it too hard just enough to hurt and for him to get the message. Before the spanking put him in time out and cool down take deep breaths have a quick drink and then calmly one of you talk to him. Very calmly in your regular voice.

Some children are different. Spanking sometimes doesn't work. Just stick to talking to him firmly, taking toys and privileges away and time outs. Do not spank often if it works. Very occasionally. When he throws tantrums put him in time out. If he gets up and runs away put him back until he stays. He has to learn to stay there on his own.

I am very sorry if my advice doesn't work. All the best to you!

Why do toddlers love electronics?

crymearive

He's finally quit the head banging, but has picked up a new activity whenever I am out of the room even if it's just for a few moments he gets into things he knows better than to bother for the sake of doing it, granted the things he's doing seem quite ingenious for his age and cute I am reaching my breaking point. I don't understand he has a room full of toys but insist on turning the tv on and off and removing his sesame street dvd from the dvd player and putting it in the xbox. There is no distracting with something else like I said he has a room full of toys that he can play with anytime he wants he just loves the things that we don't want him to touch. I've tried putting him in his crib, time outs, and smacking his hand all to no avail. He's nineteen months old and seems so proud to have learned the things he has learned and smiles when I walk up but he seems so mischievious. Help?

Answer
Children at that age are getting into everything. Certain things grab there interest. Especially things they can explore. Toys are good for passing time but once he figures out everything it does he'll want something new. Your child's mind is soaking up information at an incredible rate. Whenever he does something that gives him something back, like pushing buttons on the DVD player, he remembers that and wants it again. He is trying to understand the world through actions. Cause and effect, this for that, and it's all about him. He wants to experience things and he can only see things that are here and now. The other room might as well not exist. He also has a short attention span. Like maybe a minute or two at most. Young children don't have the ability to focus on thing like adults do. A shiny surface, open door, or even a sound that you would ignore might be a lure for him to explore something new. You will constantly have to engage him in activities to keep him out of trouble. For things you don't want him to touch, try putting them up high out of his reach. If he comes to you for something to do, take him there instead of just telling him. Words don't have as much meaning for him as direct experience. That is what he wants most.

Fun things to do with the kids you babysit?

sara

Okay I babysit these kids (two boys both 10, two girls one eight and one seven.) and i am running out of ideas of stuff to do with them. I mean it can be just stuff for girls or just stuff for guys or stuff for both guys and girls. HELP!!! P.S I am at the job now so I need some help pronto!!!

Answer
anything that kids want to do.... painting, hide and seek, reading, puzzles... pretend to be super heroes !!

all these things... i used to love dress up, so maybe bring some of your clothes for the little girls to try on.

shops is another fun one, get lots of items from round the house.. set them up behind u and use a calculater or computer keyboard to pretend to sell things to the children if they give you the right exchange.. (ie one of their toys) or you can use their toys and they have to do little missions to get their toys back... its a fun game :)

Where can i find a new keyboard for kids between the age of 10 and 14 thats under 50 bucks?

can you post a link to the site? thanx in advance.

WHY are sex toys SO MUCH CHEAPER on Amazon??

Pearl of t

Why are sex toys so much cheaper online through Amazon? It almost seems too good to be true?? A lot of things I say were a fraction of their price at Adult Video Megaplex or Adam and Eve? For example, the California Exotics Jack Rabbit Vibrator is $100 at the store, but about $27 online through Amazon? That's amazing! But what's the catch? Seriously, does anyone know??

http://www.amazon.com/California-Exotics-Waterproof-Rabbit-Floating/dp/B001GCVKU0/ref=zg_bs_3777811_5

Answer
to be honest.
a lot of the stock they get is from china, and all made from materials we are not 100% sure about, of course its cheap. and also a lot of replicas too
putting things into your body..i would be very cautious and never pay too cheap for an item.
when it comes to makeup, skin, body etc..never pay for a shortcut..we should look after ourselves.
i would never buy off amazon anyways.
my friend owns an online shop
feel free to take a sneak peak..top quality stuff

good luck

Whose better icp or twiztid?

James

I say icp cause they are

Answer
I prefer ICP over Twiztid but I wouldn't say either of them is better than the other, not overall anyway, they are both good at certain things.

ICP is good at being random and funny, at taking you on weird cartoon adventures, at making you think about life in a deep way, and just purely entertaining you - making you laugh at the weird shit they come up with. They have a way of helping you enjoy being YOU. So you only got one eye, fuck it! That's dope! So you walk with a limp. Fuck it, that's some Zombie Schwag. So you grew up in a swamp with a homeless Witch as your babysitter. Fuck it, least you learned some wicked spells!

Twiztid is good at well, being fuckin' Twiiiiztiiiiidd!! - They do scary music, more aggressive content, more lyrically complex. I would say they are more scary Horror where ICP is FUN Horror :-D.

I can say that I think Twiztid are better Rappers than ICP (sorry J and Shaggs :-P). I can also say I think ICP are better showmen than Twiztid.

Who is better, I duno.

I prefer ICP. They my shit! Twiztid is fuckin' dope too :-D

Who is better who is better!!!??? AHHH!!!

If I had to choose one, in my case, ICP is "better".

Who is better? ICP or EMINEM?

snsk123

who is a better rapper (what do you think is better) just say who i really wanna see what the people on yahoo answers think.

Answer
ICP by far, but i have to admit that Eminem is coming around now that he dropped is lil gay high voice act.
ICP can flow with different styles of music, they're dedicated to their fans and have deep meaning to their music.
Eminem definitely has talent and one day hopefully the lame fued between the 2 will end and they will do a track together. They're both kinda twisted in their own ways.
Yes I'm a Juggalo, but I can still give credit where it's due

Best pocket bike for kids?

Asia D

I want to purchase a pocket bike, mini dirt bike, or mini quad for my nephew's graduation present. He is 6 years old, about 60 lbs, average Height. I want to know the best thing to get him, if there are any with speed lock-outs or remote shut offs. A few good name brands would be awesome. I also need something I can get training wheels for. I'm looking to spend no more than 500. Please no comments about how he doesn't need one or that he needs to be supervised he is well taken care and we understand this isn't a toy. I just need advice on what to buy. Thank you!

Training wheels are not cheap, they cost around $150. You can also look for used training wheels on Ebay and Craigslist.

If your nephew can ride a bicycle, he will be able to ride a dirt bike. I am not a fan of quads. When I taught my children to ride, I also let them ride my buddies quads. They all preferred dirt bikes to quads. Quads are super easy to learn to ride, but are very easy to tip over and if they do not keep their feet on the pegs can get run over by their own machine. Quads are also heavier than dirt bikes and if the child flips the quad, they may not be able to get our from underneath it without help.

This is the motorcycle racing section, so we mainly only recommend racing machines, but since he is just starting out a true mini-bike from say Sears or Pep Boys might fit the bill fine. These mini-bikes brand new cost under $400. Have large 4-stroke lawn mower engines on them and are perfect for trail riding and basic transportation. If your nephew likes riding though, he will outgrow the mini-bike within a summer.

Don't forget riding gear. Helmet, goggles and a pair of riding boots. Goggles, gloves, shoulder pads with chest protector, kidney belt, armored riding pants and racing jersey can come later. You can find used gear at Ebay, Craigslist, garage sales and flea markets. Does he need the protective gear for a mini-bike? Probably not, but a helmet and goggles are the minimum he should have.

If he ever needs tips on riding or maintenance, tell him to check Youtube. The amount of information on there is unbelievable. He can learn everything from fixing a flat to rebuilding an engine.

Be honest....Do you make your kid wear a helmet every time they ride their bike?

Mrs. Doe

I didn't even know what a helmet was when I was young, but I do agree they are safer than not wearing one. We went to toys r us and got my son a tricycle way back at xmas and they were trying to tell me I needed to buy a helmet for my son? He has been riding since then with no helmet, but idk... do you make your child wear one to ride a bike? My son is almost 2 and I don't make him wear one when riding his trike but I'm not sure yet if I will make him wear one when he is older.

Answer
yes my kids wear a helmet every time they ride a bike or a skateboard. I can't think of one good reason for to NOT wear one. Fact is it's safer so why would I take a risk like that?

My husband was hit by a car while riding his bike an old back road (a 16 yr old girl who just got her license hit him) when he was 15. He almost died and was in a coma for a couple weeks. He now has a metal plate in his head and had to relearn stuff. If he had a helmet on, his injuries would not have been as bad. Because my husband has actually been through an accident like this, we can't imagine sending them out to ride their bikes without one and honestly, they don't mind wearing it. If the rule is helmet or no riding from the start then it just becomes automatic for them rather than a battle each time.

EDIT: I don't understand the whole "we survived without them" thoughts. They didn't always have seat belts but that doesn't mean you don't buckle up your child. I guess people just never think anything bad will happen to them or their children....it happens.

I can understand if you just don't think a helmet is needed but to thumb people down because they take safety precautions with their kids...that's just ridiculous.

EDIT2: Jane Doe are you a male or female? Just curious because your profile says you are a male but I always thought you were a female because of your username.

What are the cool toys for 7-8 year old girls?

janez1

I am buying Christmas gifts for 2 african american girls, ages 7 and 8, who are from a struggling family. hey are "girly, girls" and like dolls, arts, etc. What are the cool gifts for a girl this age? Also, they need shoes. What is "in" for 7-8 year old girls?

Answer
Well, what's in for that age group now is:
Hannah Montana and Disney stuff.
Zhu Zhu pets are VERY popular this year.
You could get some "Make your own bracelet" kits.

For shoes I'd go with a cute pair of sneakers, just anything pink or purple and girly.

What are the new "in" toys for 7-10 year old girls?

ShaNayNay

I seriously need to start my christmas shopping this weekend! If I don't begin now, when I should have started back in August, then christmas is going to be ugly.

i don't know what to get though! i have a girl, and she's almost 8. very diva"ish". what are the "in" toys these days? does anyone know?

thanks for your help, everyone!

Answer
Zhu Zhu Pets are some of the hottest toys this year for girls in this age range. In case you haven't seen it, a Zhu Zhu Pet is basically a cute little "pet" hamster that will interact with you. Very cute and VERY popular this year.

Liv dolls are another hot new one for this year. It's a new collection of dolls designed to look like teenagers -- basically combining fashion and online community.

Of course anything with the Moxie Girlz is a sure hit, but you may want to check out the Moxie Girlz Art-titude Airbrush Fashion Gallery.

You can't go wrong with the classic Barbie. New for this year is the Barbie 2009 Holiday Doll or the Barbie Pink 3-Story Dream Townhouse or even the Barbie and the Three Musketeers Corinne Doll.

If your girl is into arts and crafts, Paperoni Deluxe Studio is a hot seller this Holiday Season.

HELPFUL TIPS ON POTTY TRAINING TODDLER BOY?

Mz.HELLOo

okay so my son is 2 1/2 and is no way near to get potty trained. im kinda concerned that he dont want to go near the potty and try. i know most kids this age are already trying or showing signs but my son is the complete opposite. he simply says no no and no when i ask him if he would like to go poitty like a big boy. i can get him to sit on his little potty for a couple of seconds but after that he gets up and runs away. this is my first child so im a little confused about what to do in situations like this. so if anyone can help most preferably moms that been through this it would be helpful :)

Answer
He may just not be completely ready, my DS is 2 1/2 as well and we just convinced him to start using the potty about two months ago. What worked for us was buying him big boy underwaear, we told him he could only wear them if he put all his pee and poo in the potty and if he got any in his underwear we'd have to take them back... and it worked like a charm! He's being doing great!

Another thing we tried (though it don't work for us but has for a few of our friends) was making him a potty box, we filled it with toys, stickers, books, & games that he could only use on the potty (our boy figured out how to get into them but it has worked for our friends!)

Another thing I heard that works is reward charts, every time he pees he can get one sticker and everytime he poos he can get two, and once he fills up a whole row or the whole chart he gets to get/pick something special (like a new toy or somewhere he really enjoys going, say an indoor playground).

But like I said before he might just not be ready, on average most boys don't start potty training until they're three, so don't be so hard on yourself, when your boy is ready he'll go on the potty. Don't stress him about though, the more you force it the less he'll be willing to do it. Also before started potty training my son we read him a few books about using the potty and we emphasized that BIG boys use the potty and he was going to be such a BIG boy once he went on the potty too.

Essential toys for toddler boys?

Sweetpea h

I want to buy some toys for my son, who will be one this fall. He really doesn't have many toys right now, he'd rather play with the remote. But we want to get him some more interactive, imagination/or educational toys. The only toys I can really think of are blocks and maybe a pedal car. I don't really want to introduce him to war toys, though. What are the favorite toys is your little dude's toy box? We are talking like, 1-3 year old here.

Answer
I've got two boys ages 3 and 2. They love playdoh, if he still puts stuff in his mouth you may have to wait a bit on that. Ride on toys a great one is prince lionheart ladybug, a flying squirrel is good too, puzzles, toy story action figures (buzz and woody), play kitchen, baby dolls, pop beads, walmart shopping cart, shape sorter, elmo toys, play phone, brio pull along daschshund, ball pit, sand box, easel (finger painting), lite brite (small parts), sit and spin they didn't do this till 2, tonka trucks, drums, play tools, candyland factory game, busy bee honey tree game, lucky ducks game, gator golf

Did Republican Governor Scott Walker waged the war on Christmas this year?

Alejandro

In a Black Friday fundraising email to supporters, the Scott Walker re-election campaign asked supporters for a holiday contribution to his re-election bid that will last another four years.
“This year, we are celebrating the Holiday Season with a Black Friday special that is better than any deal found in stores,” Friends of Scott Walker’s Taylor Palmisano wrote in an email, then he continued:
“Instead of electronics or toys that will undoubtedly be outdated, broken, or lost by the next Holiday Season, help give your children the gift of a Wisconsin that we can all be proud of,” Palmisano continued.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/12/gov-walker-urges-parents-to-skip-toys-and-send-the-christmas-money-to-him/

But... I thought liberals waged war on christmas?

Answer
Yes. So did Fox News: http://www.buzzfeed.com/dorsey/fox-news-wishes-happy-holidays-to-bill-oreillys-viewers

As you can clearly see, this is a complete nonissue meant to sell Fox News pundit's books and to get ratings.

Do I have a case to sue Kmart?

disguised_

Can I sue kmart for canceling a Christmas layaway and not contacting me about it. I paid for it in full on December 19th, 2012 and have bank records to show that they did take the money out (December 21st, 2013 is when the payment was processed). I tried to call several times but the 800 customer service number keep hanging up on me so I eventually emailed them on January 2nd, 2013 and demanded that they send me the children's clothes and toys or they refund my money. They wrote back 3 days later saying that my layaway had been automatically canceled and that the funds should not have been taken out of my account - which they were. I wrote them back stating that I have not recieved my refund yet. So they wrote back 5 days ago saying they had "technical difficulties" and I should recieved my money back in 5 to 10 days. I sent them a follow up email today. I mean come on 30 days, and I still have to wait 5 more...I obviously used layway because I am not made of money. Plus, it was winter clothes and christmas toys for my children. I guess my question is can I sue kmart if my money is not returned in next 5 days? I am in peirce county, wa if it makes a difference. Also, if I do have a case what do I do next because I am utterly clueless about all that?

Answer
Suing them will require thousands of dollars paid to a lawyer to represent you. Money you will not get back, because your refund will arrive long before a court would hear your complaint.

Which toy kitchen is best for a two year old boy?

poutyp11

My son will be two at the end of January. I am thinking about getting him a toy kitchen for Christmas or his birthday. I might decide to wait until after christmas and get it on sale for his 2nd birthday! Anyways, which kitchen do you find best for a two year old BOY. I know a lot of them look more girly....but I think my son will enjoy it too. A link to the ones you own would be great....or I'd like to hear why you don't like one.

Thanks in advance!

Answer
We have boy/girl twins and have been looking at a few for Christmas - here are the ones that we are considering - we don't have a ton of space so we are looking for smaller and more affordable ones - they are also not too girly in color and style - the first one is probably the one we are going with:
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2310847

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2316877

If money and space were not an issue - I would go with this - ridiculously expensive but really cute:

Where to get a halo replica gun made?

Nick

I know you can make them yourself, but I'm too lazy to do so and don't have the artistic skill required to make one. Is there some sort of company that could make one for me for relatively cheap? It can be made out of almost anything.

Answer
Online stores would be your best of finding a replica of a gun from Halo. Maybe try toy retailers especially Toys R Us. But for replicas, you would need to go online most likely.

What is the #1 toy christmas 2011?

Answer
I think it depends on the age group and if the kid is a boy/girl, etc. Hope the links below help? In my opinion, a VTech tablet is both a fun and educational toy; I'll be getting this for my son!

What are you getting your 9 year-old girl for Christmas?

Sara Smile

My little girl loves stuffed animals, and littlest pet shop toys, but I am trying to find something else she would like to have. I just don't know what else to get her.

Answer
I have a 9 year old girl and I find it a little harder this year because they are out growing toys and mine is not that into clothes yet.
Here is what mine likes:
She loves the Dairy of a Wimpy Kid books, lap top ( heard they are going to be really cheap on black friday), Littlest Pet Shop (you can play online), WII, and she loves real rings and earrings (can find them at Wal-Mart cheap or pond shop), surprise her with concert tickets of Hannah or Taylor (both are in concert right now), NINTENDO DSi, digital camera, I POD or you can go cheaper with the MP3 player, flat screen TV, computer games or board games, there is a remote at Wal-Mart that Sam on iCarly uses that is fun. Hope this helps!!

what types??
is it safe and good??
I need to no for my gf

Answer
Toys are generally safe. "Good" is subjective and would depend on the individual.

IMO, they are ALL overpriced, but like anything else, the more you pay the better they get.

I say this with one caveat, the cheap little $10 - $20 "bullet", "rabbit" or "dolphin" is a great little stimulator. Maybe you could start with something like that and work your way up.

They can get quite sophisticated if you're prepared to spend over $70. Some have realistic "flesh" and can vibrate and revolve in incredible ways. The other cheapies (vibes and dildos) might be OK at first, but they don't last long. They're usually made from hard plastics and can be uncomfortable.

Personally, I MUCH prefer stimulation on the external vulva than vaginal penetration with a plastic object. That's why the good old cheap "bullet" might be a good starter.
