What does the abominable snowman eat?

annuhstazy

I really need this. It is for a school project and I can't find it anywhere. please tell me the source you got it from because I have to site a website and my teacher won't be happy if I say yahoo answers. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
I don't care if it's real or not, frankly I don't think it's real, but it's a stupid project and all I want is an A. thanks again.
Please tell me the full URL because I can't give my resources without it

Answer
The abominable snowman or Yeti is REAL,many peopls have seen it or it's tracks but it's elusive. It is not a bear but half human and half ape and it could be the missing link between the crouching man and the upright man.

It's diet would be the same as modern people such as vegetables and meat. It's best food would be a yak but being wild,it will eat it raw.

Evolutionists, how do you explain the abominable snowman?

Windom Ear

Prominent creation scientist Em Adjineri has recently been studying the evolution of abominable snowmen and has determined that there is no way they could possibly have evolved.

According to the theory of evolutionology, abominable snowmen evolved from regular snowmen. However, after closely studying the fossils of both abominable snowmen and regular snowmen, Em Adjineri discovered a startling lack of good fossils that displayed the link between regular snowmen and abominable snowmen..

Em Adjineri found plenty of fossils of half-abominable snowmen. However, all those fossils were transitional fossils. Like any good creationist, Em Adjineri ignored the transitional fossils.

As long as one ignores the transitional fossils, it is clear that abominabilty is irreducibly complex. Therefore, it could not have evolved through natural processes. The only explanation is that God created the abominable snowmen on the 8th day after he finished resting.

Take that cryptozoolutionists!

Answer
Yes, but what about the UN-abominable snowmen?
There are actually giant snowmen out there who AREN'T abominable! They're out there, living perfectly nice, moral lives. (Take a look at Frosty, for example...)
And they have found fossils of clearly evolved snowmen. They have detemined that they started out as a puddle in Roanoke, VA, then it evaporated and became a cloud over Greensboro, NC, then snow, then a snowball, and thence into a snowman!

funny pranks for Halloween?

Q. There are these 3 kids about 1-2 years younger than me. I am 14 and they live on the street next to mine. They ride on my street with their bikes and annoy me on purpose for no reason. And they sag, talk urban, listen to rap and stuff, which is also annoying. One day while they were riding down my street and rode by my house, (They didn't see me) I overheard them making plans to come in my neighborhood for Halloween specifically saying they each weren't going to trick or treat. So I would like some legal ideas to wait on them and prank them. Does anyone have good ideas?

what sort of gift can one give to 1 year old girl?

mee

my cousin daughter would turn 1 next week , and she is throwing big party on her birthday can u tell me what sort of things can u give one year old

i would prefer something not to costly , financially i am not to good these days

Answer
one year old about anything in the baby toddler. Go to walmart look at the the toys for babies toddlers. Buy her something that says 12-18 months. Also ask the mom what she plays with? I mean my grandson loves plastic forks. he carries them around. Hes 17 months old. That would make his day. So each child likes differant. But if you buy something at walmart the mom can take it back. also you could get her a gift card for a place to eat like mcdonalds if they let her eat there. buy her a barbie to put up.

cheap toddler room ideas?

lilbabemom

ok, i want to decorate my 2 year old girls room but we are on a budget and i have to do this at a fairly cheap price and i need ideas of all kinds so anything will help. She will be sharing her room with her baby brother (due in may) but the room is divided up. the carpet is like a maroon color( nothing i can do about that , at least not right now) the walls and ceiling are white with nothing on them at all. she has hot pink curtains over the window. Her bed is plane and white toddler bed with princess sheets and pillow case. She has all different size stuffed animals and all kinds of toys. And before anyone says anything.....im not good and building things. please help me if you can...thank you

Answer
I would just get her some decals or stickers (you get them at walmart in the paint/diy section by the wall paper) to make it look more girly on her side of the room, like above her bed. You get princesses, Dora the explorer, Tinkerbell, flowers etc. My daughters loved glow in the dark stars/flowers etc, and we hung fairy barbies from the ceiling with fishing gut so they look like theyre floating around her bed. Total cost for making it look cute, like $20.

who should say sorry?

Alison W

my friend bails and lies to me all the time. she cancels plans last minutes. and blames everything on her parents divorce. so thats why ive been talking behind her back.she found out and now we arent friends. ive been feeling guilty about it and i feel like a bad person. but i dont know if i even want to be friends with her anymore. whos fault is it? who should say sorry?

Answer
Both should say sorry but the chances of your friend saying sorry may not be forthcoming. Be realistic that she may never. Unfortunately, your friend has used her parents' divorce as a crutch instead of allowing herself to grow, she has chosen to allow herself to atrophy. Atrophy of any muscles become useless. Eventually, you have to let go of the crutch and do the hard work to make it develop. Granted it is painful, but the rewards could be awesome.

Perhaps you should apologize by stating, "I am sorry I spoke bad about you behind your back. That was wrong of me, but I am very frustrated by you constantly cancelling plans we make as I get excited we are going to do things together and then get so very disappointed when you don't make it. I miss our old friendship. I am sorry about your parents. I am sure it sucks for you, but you can't let your parents' mistake to define your happiness. Only you can. Let me help you remember life can still be fun and no matter what, the next plan we make together, I will come and drag you by your hair and I don't care if your even naked, you are still going out with me!" Say something like that with a smile and a giggle and see if that will help.

Also, no more talking behind people's back. Sometimes a frank conversation with honesty can clear many misunderstandings. There may be more going on with her cancellations, try to find out what is going on deeper in her world if she will let you. If she declines, respect it and just let her know you are there.

Sometimes, friends do grow in different directions. That is OK too and try not to look at how the friendship ended but how the friendship you had enriched your life and made you today!

Good luck and I do hope it works out for you

Why is saying "SORRY" not enough?

Q. When people say sorry to other people for doing things wrong they say "Sorry isn't enough",I mean, What else do they want!?

Answer
Saying sorry is expected from a person who has said or done something wrong to another. Some are sincere and really do mean it but some just say it for the sake of saying it.
Its really the actions that follow after one has said sorry that would really make things 'right' and 'enough'.

Flying to Hawaii with toddlers, do we need car seats? 1 and 3 year olds?

J&M

We are flying from WI to Hawaii in February 2013 staying at Disney Aulani ( our first time so if you have any tips that would be great) so it is going to be a long flight!
I know our 3yr old needs his own seat, does he need a car seat?
Does our 1yr old just sit on our lap?
We already will have our double stroller so how do you lug a car seat too?
Any tips on how to survive this long flight with 2 toddlers?

Thank you for all your advice it's going to be a great trip just a little stressed about the travel part.

Answer
Any car seat needs to say FAA approved, many booster seats are not OK. check your seat label for the FAA OK for your seat. You can 'gate check' the seats plane side. FAR BETTER than 'checking in; the seats as baggage (good chance you will never see the seats again!) Be sure to label ON the seat and stroller your info. Plus use the label tags the airlines give you. (and easily falls off, this is why to label ON the stroller and seats). The 1 yr old can go on your lap, the 3 yr old can go in a car seat or airline seat (if he is good with wearing his belt)
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/index.shtm
http://www.faa.gov/passengers/fly_children/

If you can gate check seats and stroller you take those with kids in then right to the plane. Call your airline about that double stroller and if it can be gate checked along with two car seats. As for surviving the flight, label toys too. We take three toys per child. This way, we pack our bag when right before the 'descent' and now each kid has three. This is easier to keep track of..

how to make toddlers stop crying in school?

Sabrina

2013 has just began, and so has pre-school, for many little toddlers.
During one lesson observation in the first week of school, many 3-4 year old toddlers were crying, and hugging thier mums leg tightly. Some continued crying long after their parents left, and some would not let go of thier parents.
My question is, how do i encourage these toddlers to let go?
And, how to make them stop crying? ( I tried distracting them with toys/baby biscuits, videos of barbie/lego, assuring them that thier parents will come back very soon. It worked for some, but not others. One would kick, stamp his feet, and scream really loudly when his mum goes more than an arms lenght from him)
Do you know any other ways?

Thank you so much!!

Answer
As tough as it might be, when I took my son to daycare, the staff encouraged me not to linger. I stuck to a "bye bye" routine: I would tell him that I was going to school, that he was going to stay here and play with his friends, and that I would come back when I was done (or tell him his dada would pick him up later). I would give him a kiss and tell him I loved him, hand him over to a teacher, wave bye-bye and leave. We talked about this from the time we were getting out of the car to the wave. If there was anything that the teachers and I needed to discuss we would try to keep it brief, and sometimes they would write me notes.

I don't know. From a parents perspective, I appreciated guidance from the teachers on what to do to minimize that drama. My son was definitely a crier until we established a routine.

importance of child development?

Kaylen and

Why do you believe it is important to study and have an understanding of child development? Coming from a teaching or parents point of view.

Answer
Understanding child development is important for several reasons. As a parent, you'll want to know how do everything you can to make sure your child develops properly. This includes giving them nutritious foods and doing activities to strengthen their mental capacity, like reading books, taking them to new places, talking with them often, limiting TV, etc. Also, you can understand how your child thinks and be compassionate. If you understand that kids can't control their bowels until around 2 and a half, then you won't scream at them for wetting their pants at 2 years old, ya know?
As a teacher, understanding child development is very important when developing learning objectives. You're not going to expect 2nd graders to be able to think abstractly or understand algebra. Also, you'll understand the importance of developing their minds for higher-order thinking skills.

im taking child development in community college???

B

i was wondering if its a hard course?

what do you do in child development class?
is there alot of essay's or projects?

what do it mean when someone say you have to write at a college level?whats the difference betweeen high school level and college level?

Answer
in child development, you learn about how a child develops between conception and 5 years old usually. you will learn about normal development and disorders that change development. you might also learn about gender identity and child abuse.

you will probably have to do 2 projects. this could be finding an article about child development and then telling the class what the article was about during a 5 minute presentation. it's really not a big deal.

regarding your writing ability. if you were an okay writer in high school, then you will do just fine in college. there really is no difference, but as you go through college you will learn more about writing. if you are trying to get a degree, then you will have to take an english class. this class will teach you more things about writing.

uncommon gift for a 3 year old girl.?

the good l

I don't like to give clothes and toys as gifts. Little kids usually have plenty of that already. I try to get a little bit more creative with my gift giving. The trouble is that I have had so many little kid birthdays lately and the kids are all in the same circle, so I can't really reuse any of the ideas. I need some outside the box ideas for a little girl who is turning 3. She is very smart for her age, so something appropriate for 3-5 year olds would be ok. Any ideas?

Answer
here r some ideas i think would b different and definatley used or enjoyed.

*some sort of baking kit, my daughter loves baking and you can get the kits that come with everything you need for 'princess cupcakes' etc they r quite good

*some sort of art set, like with paints, chalks things like that

*playdough

*some "boy toys"-i know you said u dont want to get toys because kids have plenty of that but if you got her something different that would normally be stereotyped as being for boys she might really enjoy it....such as cars, trains, etc...

*have u seen the little kits u can get 'grow your own seeds for kids' (or a potato head or just a small plant in a cute pot)....a childsize watering can or bottle sprayer would b nice with this. the responsibility of having something to water and look after and watch it grow would b very enjoyable and educational...

*sea monkeys.........its different

*if all else fails u cant go wrong with books or puzzles.......or what about a dress up costume. all 3yr old girls LOVE to play dress up!

*photography kit with disposable camera and photo album, different and fun

for something sentimental u could knit something or sew a picture and frame it. or get something personalised like a necklace or bracelet..........
ok im all out of ideas hope this helps :-) have fun..........let us know what u go for

Birthday gift for 3 year old girl?

Isabella's

My friends daughter is turning 3 next weekend and we will be attending her party. What is a good gift to get for her? I don't really want to spend much more than $30. My daughter is 4 and a half months old so I'm used to buying her age toys...not too sure what to get a 3 year old....help?

Answer
In my experience, the more 'commercialised' the toy is, the less life-span it has. And that is from both the point of view about how sturdy a toy is, but also about how much they will play with it. Anything that makes noise or moves with batteries really only entertains them for days or weeks as best and then they move back to the toys that allow more imagination. The simpler the better, and the toys that don't 'tell' you how to play with them.

The sorts of things that last for years are toys like building blocks/lego or simple baby doll stuff - dolls that are hardy and can go in the bath or get thrown around a bit, are easy to dress etc.
Most little girls already have a doll, but a little stroller for it to be pushed around in is always good if she hasn't got one.

Other non 'toy' ideas are things like a pretty umbrella or raincoat, bubble mix, paints or put together a craft box with things like a glue stick, coloured card and paper, sturdy children's scissors, feathers, stickers, colourful foam or pom-pom bits etc. They love this - it's great to keep aside for a rainy day or for special times when mum/dad need the child to be occupied. I have one for when I need to be on the phone without being interrupted, or when I'm trying to put the little one to sleep and need some quiet - all sorts of possibilities.

Another idea the kids love is a cookie baking kit (little boys love this too BTW). Depending on how much you want to spend, at the minimum it could have a favouite cookie recipe that's child friendly, a rolling pin and cookie cutters (try and get the metal ones as they last better - more quality and less quantity means you have a gift that will keep reminding them of you for years to come). Other things that can go in are a little apron, a mixing bowl and spoon, a spatula to scrape it clean, a silicone cookie mat for the oven, or even a cute cookie jar for their hard work to go in.

I have also had great fun putting together gardening kits for young kids too. A little trowel, garden gloves and seedlings/seeds and raising mix all put into a nice pot or herb box. herbs/tomatoes/strawberries are great because they can watch them grow and then eat them. A little watering can is also a cute addition.

HTH :-) It's so much more fun than just buying a colourful plastic wrapped Chinese made toy from Target!

Why do baby, toddler, and boys in general that are children like to play with toy cars?

DeeDarling

Why do they?

Answer
Because it's fun, same reason girls play with those toys.
But not all of them do. My 4 year old nephew has zero interest in cars, planes, trucks, etc, and rather prefers playing with Legos or art sets. On the other side of that coin, his sister who's 11 months younger, is a fanatic about hotwheels and shows no interest in dolls or art or legos.

Allowed any toy without parents placing a higher value on certain toys or pushing certain toys/play types based on gender (dolls are for girls, cars are for boys - that nonsense), children will play with whatever they like, and sometimes that doesn't fit in with the typical idea that boys naturally love cars and girls naturally love dolls and tea sets.

what are some very popular boy toddler toys?

A Big Red Fire Engine.

How would I start a sex toy business?

Secret

I would like to start sex toy line, always hosting parties and etc. Can some please help me in to where I can start this business.
I would like to start my own sex toy line, and I will always would like to host parties I would like to do all in one. I would like to have my own pleasure business

Answer
Hi, you want to start a line of adult toys? or you want to start hosting adult toy parties?
if you want to start a line of adult toys the market is already saturated in these products and the big brands have it sewn up. Unless you have a new idea for a sex toy then you will want to design, get it patented and then find somewhere other than China to manufacture.

Why no China? well if you are a small fish and get your idea manufactured in China as it's cheaper you will find a load of low cost copies on the market in no time. Also the quality will be crap unless you can afford to stay in China and make sure you are present in every aspect of its manufacture and continue to do so.

If you want to start an online party business there are plenty of franchise party plan business's you can buy into. Or you can start your own, many online adult shops have a dropship/party plan service you can sign up for. Buy the promo material (the stuff you show on the night) and start Facebooking your friends for parties. Once you get orders from your parties order throlugh the online store and get it sent straight to your customers.

Things to watch make sure the parcels from the online store have your business name as sender and none of there advertising brochures in your customers parcels. You don't want to lose your customers do you. Also make sure the products you are selling the online adult store carries enough in stock at all times so you don't end up selling stuff your customers have to wait months to receive.

Know any cool B-day party games for kids?

bn_skelly

My baby is turning 3 and we are having a small family party. We will have 8 kids here ranging from 3-8. Boys and girls and the party theme is dora. I have no Idea what kids of games to play for them.....help?!

Answer
A water balloon toss game: Fill up small water balloons, pair off kids and have them toss it back and forth. Every time they catch it, they take a step back to make the game harder. Last balloon standing wins a prize. You can do this with eggs too, but who wants to clean that up.

You can make your own pin the tail on the donkey, do a pinata, have a coloring contest, sack races, karaoke... so many fun things you can do with kids that age.

Are geeks, nerds, dorks the cool kids & adults in japan?

Jp0d

*starting off I am a geek and just curious about this for a story I am writing::

Are the comic reading, anime loving, math geniuses, D&D experts, science geniuses,,, yeah you get the type.... in middle school... high school (japan's equivalents) are they the cool kids in school? And later in Life are those who still stay strong in their geekness, nerdness, and such... how is looked upon in Japan? Is it just considered normal? are these people the Cool ones?

Really please remember I am a big geek in my late 20s so Im not trying to make a joke or anything.

Really hoping answers from people with sources they could cite OR personally saw it themselves
Sorry Caity I Definitely Didn't mean to suggest all Japanese were all geniuses just like in America. But in America often times the geeks, nerds, and such are the outcasts in schools (saw in MANY times when i was in school). The sterotypes were alive and well all through high school. So basically I am asking for the ones who Japanese consider nerds, geeks, dorks.... how are they seen in the schools? Is it any different than how Americans treat them?

And D&D is Dungeons and Dragons. LoL just another geeky america thing. Probably should have done a bit more research into this one. How does this sound: How are the smart kids treated in school? Are they not outcasts like they would be in America?
[ EDIT ]

====== FIX :: Sorry Caity I Definitely Didn't mean to suggest all Japanese were all geniuses*
and just remove the "just like in America." part
Damn suprising really... Nerds usually do the best of the rest. They usually get a nice job and will be set for life. American girls learned that one fast and will get with one just for the money.
Last Edit... But sorry usually Nerds are seen to be the smart ones. Geeks are for comic books and everything in general and such... Dorks are just those social outcasts... Nerds Definition : "stereotype of studious people with unique interests" The Person you would look towards into the MASSIVELY growing Computer industry for new recruit in the many different types of ones.... You would look mostly for NERDS.... starting salary for me was in the $80,000 JUST because i was entering a NERDY field that was growing VERY Fast and I had allll the school creds needed and more. and i got my hot wife becuase of it (sorry for the bragging)... I will always be a Geek but it was my Nerd side that be high paying job + a hot wife

Answer
"Cool" is subjective and can be different to anyone. In our school, I can hear girls saying the swimming club guys are so cool. My younger sister who is in middle school thinks guys in indie rock bands are cool. There's also some girls who think anime otaku guys are cool.
In my understanding, nerds are people who loves studying academics. Geeks are people that main interest on technology, comic books/manga, video games and anime. Dorks are the quirky, awkward and most of them are socially outcast. Atleast, that's what American media always portray about them.
There are many types of otaku (nerd/geek/dork in America) here in Japan. Otaku with severe obsession or addiction to certain things are often look down to. During my middle school, there's a male otaku who loves everything about Ancient Japan and Japanese history and he's often bullied and has no friends. I have never heard from him since we graduated middle school.

I say, forget the labels (nerd/geek/dork). People will find you cool for your interests, looks, hobbies, knowledge, skills, talents, etc.

Do you think Michael Jackson did a good job parenting his kids by the way they seem?

pretty y0u

They have manners and he was always by their side, plus he gave them love. What do you think?

Answer
I've watched many clips of Michael with his children and have read many interviews of people describing MJ as a father, and I have to say, from the info I gather, he has to be the best father I've ever seen. In just the short clips I saw, MJ spoke to them with patience, respect, and ever so loving and soft voice. He asked them intelligent questions that got them thinking, he was adamant in them using manners and being kind to other people. In a video clip he asked Paris a question, and Prince cut in from the back. MJ immediately said "Prince, I am talking to Paris." I mean, they weren't even allowed to talk over each other, you can see the degree of manners he imposed on his children!

I've read bits of info from here and there, people saying that every Christmas, his children will get abundant of toys but he will only let them chose one to keep, and give the rest to charity. In toy shops, MJ would spend thousands of dollars on toys for other children, but his own kids were only allowed to chose one to share between them. They weren't allowed to watch TV, surf the net or go on the rides in Neverland unless he was with them or he gave permission.

As you said he was always by their side. They used to sleep in cribs in his room, and he bottle fed them, changed them, bathed them, fed them, cooked for them himself!

He never yelled or smacked his children. If they were naughty, the worst punishment was time out facing the corner.

A recording artist once recounted MJ bringing in one of his children to the recording studio. During then the kid spilled popcorn all over the studio floor. Just as this artist was about to pick up the phone to call in a cleaner, MJ said "No, I'll clean it up, my child made a mess so I'll clean it up" and there is was, Michael Jackson, on his hands and knees picking up his kid's popcorn. He even made the child apologise, twice, because the first time didn't sound sorry enough. The artist commented "You wouldn't see Madonna doing that!"

In clips of him revisiting his hometown of Gary, Indiana, MJ went to his favourite store, Salvation Army. A sales clerk showed him some nifty swiss army knives, and MJ "oohhhhed" and "aaahhhhed". When asked if wanted to buy one, he said "No....I can't....I have children at home..." It was obvious he based his life around his children, never putting them in dangerous situations!

His song "You Are My Life" is dedicated to his children. Any human being can write such a beautiful song about children, you know they mean a lot to him.

Even now, from looking at his children, you can tell they were raised in a very good psychological and physical environment. I'm a little worried about Blanket though, he seems a little wild and rebellious (but shy), and he spend the least time with MJ. I hope they stay beautiful and continue their father's legacy of love.

His children are living proof that MJ's views on loving children is nothing dirty and wacky as the media made it out to be. He really believed that children are the world's future, and if we want to heal the world, we have to start with treating children with love, respect and raising them positively, nurturing their innocence and purity.

about MICHAEL JACKSON. what do you think?

Bunga

Answer
I think it's really amazing that so many people here are willing to attack Michael Jackson and call him a pedophile, when they actually couldn't care less about children.

I'm pretty sure most of these people who attack Mj on Y!A wouldn't have kids of their own, wouldn't help a childs organisation, wouldn't donate old things like video games, clothes, toys for kids, wouldn't spend time with any and probably do all the wrong things like swear around them and act without thinking.

Most people need to get a life. You've all been successfully brainwashed and/or have some sick feelings about kids which makes you uncomfortable, so by accusing someone else like Michael you think people do not notice the fact that you're most likely a pedophile instead of Michael Jackson.

Cheap gift baskets for Christmas?

Rebecca

I don't have much money so I was thinking of just getting a few cheap things for my 2 best friends and making them gift baskets for Christmas. One of them is a 15 year old boy, I have no idea what to get him...? The other is a 17 year old girl. I have no idea what to put in the baskets? Please help! Thanks!

Answer
For the boy, maybe go to the dollar store and get him a couple of bags of his favorite candy and maybe even a cute little kids toy to make him laugh. For my guy friend last year, I got him a dog bone toy and wrote a note that said, "Since your always chasing the girls like a dog, I figured I treat you like one." ;) He laughed so hard.

For the girl, if shes into makeup and perfume and nail polish, they have that all at the dollar store and then you could also get her a bag of her favorite candy, and maybe even a cute little inside joke toy that would put a smile on her face. :)

Hope this helps!

Answer
There was just a conflict with the stars schedules this year...concerts, movies, etc. Unless you are with disney entertainment management there is no way of knowing if they are having the games next year or not. Any answer that you see here is a guess.

If you want to see the games next year, go to disney.com click on contact us and write an email.

teenage girls at disneyworld?

Marie J

What resorts would you recommend for two teenage girls at Disneyworld?
I really have no restrictions/preferences. (just a pool:]) lol.

Answer
As a recent teen, I particularly love the Boardwalk. It's on the pricey side, but it's got so much to do. When you walk through the lobby to the other side, you can see the entire Boardwalk, which is set like it's in the 1930s--there's restaurants, shops, and little stands for arcade/carnival games and more! At night, it really comes alive. There are street performers who do magic tricks or stunts that will take your breath away. On special occasions (i.e. New Years Eve, 4th of July, etc) there are cool dance parties and such. However, the Atlantic Dance Hall and Jellyrolls (Boardwalk's two clubs/bars) are 21 and older so you can't get in there. It's too bad because it seems like a lot of fun. There's also two pools: the big pool and the quiet pool. The big pool is called Luna Park, and it's really fun! (http://www.kingdom-travel.com/Walt_Disney_World_Resorts/_ResortAssets/BoardWalk_Villas/Disney_BoardWalk_Villas_Pool.jpg). There's a great slide and the poolside food and drinks are unbelievable (I recommend the Pina Colada). It's my favorite hotel because I always need something to do. I love being able to go out at night and just walk up and down the Boardwalk. It's very entertaining! Plus the rooms are very nice.

The best part is that the resort is about a five minute walk to either EPCOT or Disney's Hollywood Studios! You can just walk out of the hotel, stroll down the Boardwalk (no need to walk on the streets) and get to those parks easily! There's also boat transportation (the Friendships) that can take you there as well. I don't recommend them though--they take a long time because they make stops at Swan and Dolphin and the Yacht and Beach Club resorts). Walking is so much nicer! Also, if you want to head over to the Magic Kingdom, you can easily walk to EPCOT and take the monorail from there. You won't have to worry about renting a car. The only places you'll need to take the bus for are Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and Downtown Disney.

Easy recipes kids can cook?

Lauren

Today is mothers day, and I thought it'd be nice for my brother and sister (ages 6 and 4) to cook dinner with me so we can give mom a break. Does anyone know any recipes that are simple enough that they could make it with me? (if you could give one with basic household ingredients it would be great, I don't think we have any way to go food shopping right now.)

Answer
An easy meal that they could help with would be spaghetti, salad & garlic bread. You don't have to have "special" bread just use sandwich bread-butter it, sprinkle on powdered garlic and put it in the broiler a minute or two on each side. The salad would be easy for kids as they can tear the lettuce put it in bowls you can chop the veggies they can add them. Spaghetti sauce from a jar and pasta.

Another would be a simple tuna casserole with a salad and again bread. You would need tuna, cream of mushroom soup, egg noodles, cheese.

How about a pot roast (can be just about any roast you have that has been thawed) add potatoes, carrots, onions slow cook in crock pot or oven have the kids do a salad and again bread.

How about breakfast for dinner? My Mom used to make that for us and she and us kids loved it. Pancakes, french toast, eggs & potatoes w/toast.

kids cooking activities?

ammy

i lead an infants kids group on a friday afternoon at church (yrs K-2)
this week, the activity is Cooking Chaos
i need to prepare the activity so the kids have a simple, yet fun thing to make
any ideas??
it needs to be relatively cheap and easy to make
and also.. it needs to be catered to around 40 kids

the bible talk is based on "Loving God's people" so i was thinking of getting them to make
something to do with people or love

anyway, any ideas will be greatly appreciated :)
thanks :)

Answer
Years ago when my kids were really small (about the age of your kids' groups) they made bread in Sunday School. I remember it well because the teacher borrowed my electric skillet. What food can be better than bread for a Bible class?! The following recipe sounds very close to what they made. Very easy and fun.

Recommendations for toys for an 11-month old boy?

TR

My son is just 11 months old, nearly walking alone, very, very mobile, active, always on the go, very curious and totally full of energy. What toys would you recommend for him? I'd like to get him some that will last for a while so well into his first year, keep him busy, and good for indoors and outdoors (we live in a warm climate, no snow!!).

Answer
My son loves things he can push and pull around, anything with wheels really like cars, trains, etc. He also likes wheeled toys that are attached to a string (that he can pull the string and it trails along behind him).

Other things he loves playing with are toys that make noise - push the buttons and they play music, beep, ding etc. We got him a couple of musical wheeled toys (a train and a car) that does the two in one - he can push/pull it around and press buttons to make noises.

We also got a couple of little balls that have rattly bits (bells, mini balls) inside them. It's great fun cause when he shakes them or rolls them, they make noise which he loves and it's also great for his mobilty and hand/eye co-ordination when he's trying to chase them or roll them to us.

What are some nice DIY Christmas gift ideas?

Skye

I'm a poor college student. I need gifts that are easy and cheap to make and/or buy for my friends, family, and boyfriend.

Answer
Sounds like you need a stop at the dollar store.

Seriously, they have EVERYTHING there; from ornaments to Christmas crackers, cards to stickers, even guinea pig food to escargot (ew). Look around; they surely have some cheap stuff to buy (and believe me, the stuff doesn't even look cheap!)

Some good craft ideas:

Younger kids (aged 10 or less)
- Kool aid vases - Take multi kool aid flavors/colour and pour them into a cheap clear vase; creates a chic look which can be used if the kid likes to drink Kool aid.
- Personalized door tags - Just buy one of those foam things that hand from door handles and decorate it with stickers, foam letters, etc.
- Goodie bag - Fill it with cheap treats and thrills, like candy, homemade snacks, toys, stickers, coupons, etc.

Teens (13 and up)
- Retro Record Pics - Find a record out there (thrift stores, garage sales, etc) and buy a record (really cheap, can sometimes be like $0.10!!!) Frame it or attach some string to it so it can be hung.
- Lighthouse - For when they stay up at night and secretly read (lol, more like secretly text) Buy a small light and stick it in a cylinder of cardboard. Stuff a cheap cup under it. Wrap red and white tape around the sides of the tube. Place a plastic cup bottom on the top to finish the effect.

Adults
- Wine - Buy a cheap bottle and wrap in fabric and ribbons.
- Pictures - Frame good moments with them!
- Scrapbooks - great ideas for good memories!

Happy Christmas.

where can i find a small puppy for really cheap? i want a puppy for my lil girl to play with she loves dogs?

sammie nic

Answer
Some kids want toy dogs to dress up like a doll or to show off the way they see famous people doing on TV. You should really have a better reason than your daughter wanting an ornament to show off before you get a dog. A young girl may get bored with the dog and then YOU'LL be the one taking care of it.

They can be expensive to buy and take care of. A quality pup can cost $1000 or more. Even "free" dogs cost money to take care of. If the dog isn't properly trained, it can chew up your house and your stuff. If it's not housebroken, it can ruin your floors and your furniture. How "free" is a dog that does $1000 in damage to your house? Many "free" dogs turn out to be sick - how "free" is a dog that costs you $800 at the vet because he has Parvo or distemper or heartworm? Puppy shots are another $200, then $100 a year for boosters. Annual Heartworm test and preventative medication $100. Professional trainer $600. Going on vacation? Boarding kennel $40/day. Spaying? $250.

Dogs are terrific companions but they require training and discipline and exercise. A dog the size of a Chihuahua has to go out every four to six hours - the smaller the dog, the more often they have to go out. Toy Dogs often live 14 -17 years - what happens if she goes away to college?

Toy Dogs can be great, but they can also be yappy, nippy, dominant little horrors that never get housebroken. If the dog bites one of your daughter's friends, you could be sued. You need to let them walk on all fours and train them just like any other dog. You could get her a rabbit or a guinea pig - they're friendly, easy to keep, live in a cage, and don't have to be walked or trained.

If you still want a dog, find a good, responsible breeder by going to www.akc.org or talking to people at dog shows. You can also find info about the breed clubs on the akc site - they probably have a rescue group where you can get an older dog for less money. The best breeders will be members of their breed club, promoting healthy dogs with great temperaments. They should ask you a bunch of questions to make sure their puppy will be getting a good home. If all a "breeder" seems to care about is whether your check will clear, you can be sure he won't care a week later when the pup is dying from distemper or parvo and you want your money back.

Whatever you do, DON'T go to a pet shop, a flea market or buy one sight-unseen off the Internet!!!! You'll pay top dollar for what is usually a poor quality puppy mill dog. And you'll be supporting one of the cruelest industries in the country. The breeding animals are often kept in deplorable conditions - spending their entire lives in small wire-bottomed cages. They probably haven't been vaccinated against contagious diseases or tested for any health or temperament problems or genetic diseases - that costs money and cuts into their profits. A female is often bred every time she comes into heat. When her poor little body can't take it any more, she is often clubbed in the head and tossed into a dumpster or an open ditch. Most puppy mills ship their pups to pet stores at wholesale prices and many pups die before they even get there.

These so-called "breeders" have now figured out that they can use the internet to ship a dog directly to the customer and thus make more money by cutting out the middleman. If you buy a dog from out of state, good luck getting your money back if there's something wrong with the pup. These people count on you becoming instantly attached to the poor little guy and being willing to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars at the vet to treat whatever is wrong with him.

What toys do I get for a 6 month - 1 year old?

Q. It's for my sisters new baby. At the moment she's only about 1 - 2 months old, but there's huge toy sales on where I live and my sister's moving here soon, but by that time the toy sales will be over, so she wants me to get her baby girl some toys for when christmas comes around.
I wouldnt have a clue what to get her, i've never had any experience with babys and i'm not planning to have my own. Please help, thanks. =]

Answer
Please, please, please, I beg you to buy this young girl something other than toys. I give books for all occasions and I cannot emphasize enough how important I think it is that you consider giving your niece books instead of toys as gifts, particularly with so many negative influences impacting children nowadays. The sad truth is that if you buy toys for your niece you'll be wasting your money on something she'll either not appreciate fully until she's much older or tire of in weeks if not days (after all, she's not quite one).

I heartily advise you to invest your resources on something that (when used daily) can benefit her for the rest of her life. I realize you're probably looking for toy ideas and that's why you posted your question in this forum, but think about the impact books can have on this young girl's future. Think of the special opportunity you have to influence her early learning and foster her emergent reading skills. Picture yourself on the day you meet her...or her mom every day thereafter, reading to this special child and the joyful moments you all can experience exploring the pages of a book. Besides, a book can be an everlasting gift and you can inscribe a special message within it, creating a lasting memory for this girl. I still have books that my aunt and uncle gave me when I was a child and I loved rediscovering the inscriptions they wrote me when I read the books again as an adult. The single best way to help a child become a reader (for life) is to read to her regularly. You can make a huge difference in this young lady's life by giving her books. You're establishing that you value reading and literature and you're encouraging her to value the same. I can't imagine that her mom won't appreciate the sensible choice you'll make in giving her daughter books, and you'll look smart, too. Most young children love to hear the cadence of someone else's voice.

Reading aloud to a child can be calming, instructive and just plain fun. I advise you to look for books that rhyme or have a rhythmic pattern. This is the key to building reading fluency in children. It's no accident that children will often ask to have their favorite stories read to them again and again--these books, from the classics to the contemporary feature repetitive or rhythmic text that begs to be read aloud time after time. Also, pop-up books, lift-the-flap, and of course board books, can be very attractive to children her age. I've included some titles below that are available in board book format. There are thousands of books you might select, but let me recommend a few that you may not be familiar with (some are more appropriate for preschool children--but they would make good additions now to her home library):

"The Long-Nosed Pig" by Keith Faulkner; ill. by Jonathan Lambert [pop-up book]

"The Wide-Mouthed Frog" by Keith Faulkner; ill. by Jonathan Lambert [pop-up book]

"Shark in the Park" by Nick Sharrat [Fun!]

"Bark, George" by Jules Feiffer [Hysterical!]

"T is for Terrible" by Peter McCarty

"Some Dogs Do" by Jez Alborough [I could read this book every day for the rest of my life--so positive do I think its message is].

"Duck in the Truck" by Jez Alborough

"Louella Mae, She's Run Away" by Karen Beaumont Alarcón; ill. by Rosanne Litzinger

"The Wolf's Chicken Stew" by Keiko Kasza

"Rosie's Walk" by Pat Hutchins

"Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale" by Mo Willems [the sequel "Knuffle Bunny Too" has since been published]

"Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" by Mo Willems [There are other books about the Pigeon and his adventure--this is the best].

"Leonardo, the Terrible Monster" by Mo Willems

"Edwina, the Dinosaur that Didn't Know She Was Extinct" by Mo Willems

"Sheep in a Jeep" by Nancy Shaw; ill. by Margot Apple

"Caps for Sale" by Esphyr Slobodkina

"Millions of Cats" by Wanda Gag

"Harold and the Purple Crayon" by Crockett Johnson

"The Missing Piece Meets the Big O" by Shel Silverstein

"The Very Quiet Cricket" by Eric Carle

"Fish Eyes: A Book You Can Count On" by Lois Ehlert

"Banana Moon" by Janet Marshall

"Dinosaur Roar" by Paul & Henrietta Stickland

"How Loud Is a Lion?" by Stella Blackstone; ill. by Clare Beaton

"Clickety Clack" by Robert & Amy Spence; ill. by Margaret Spengler

"One Red Dot" by David A. Carter [Amazing pop-up book]

"Blue 2" by David A. Carter [Incredible pop-up book]

"600 Black Spots" by David A. Carter [Outstanding pop-up book]

"Arrowville" by Geefwee Bodoe

"Duck on a Bike" by David Shannon

"No, David!" by David Shannon [Check out David's other adventures, too].

"Ella Sarah Get Dressed" by Margaret Chodos-Irvine

"Click, Clack Moo: Cows That Type" by Doreen Cronin; ill. by Betsy Lewin

"How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?" by Jany Yolen; ill. by Mark Teague

"How Do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon?" by Jany Yolen; ill. by Mark Teague

"How Does a Dinosaur Eat His Food?" by Jany Yolen; ill. by Mark Teague [There are several other books about dinosaurs from this author and illustrator].

"The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds

"Ish" by Peter H. Reynolds

"The Spider and the Fly" by Mary Howitt; ill. by Tony DiTerlizzi

"Imogene's Antlers" by David Small

"Un Gato y un Perro" by Clare Masurel

"Bear Snores On" by Karma Wilson; ill. by Jane Chapman [there are other wonderful books about Bear's misadventures from this author/illustrator team]

I've read the above picture books numerous times with great cheer (and some tears) from many audiences. Click on my profile and e-mail me. I would be happy to correspond with you and make further suggestions. I'd also encourage to stop by your local library and chat with the children's librarians there to get their recommendations. Finally, I'd suggest you find a copy of Jim Trelease's "The Read Aloud Handbook." http://www.trelease-on-reading.com/ It's an invaluable resource for parents, godparents, grandparents, and gift-giving aunts of soon-to-be-one-year-old girls. Another good source of information is "Parent's Guide to the Best Books for Children," published by The New York Times and edited by Eden Ross Lipson.

toys for a 1.5 year old lhasapoo tough chewer??

12345

i have a 1.5 year old lhasapoo that loves to play but he chews all his toys in a matter of minutes any ideas for toys for a tough chewer? he doesn't like rubber toys he likes soft toys
THANKS FOR THE HELP

Answer
Our dog loves to chew basically anything in sight. I do love the Kong toys, but they are rubber. However they are a soft rubber- maybe your dog would like those, heck if your dog is as wild as mine why not give it a try? Let's see... chew ropes are good too. I don't have any particular brand in mind right now, but if you can find one that looks durable enough try it. Also, there is something called a Wubba. It is for the makers of the Kong toy but it is covered in cloth material. So if it's just the feel of the rubber that your dog does not like, that might be good for him. Lastly, there is something for very super chewers... and I mean VERY. It's called a Tirebiter. And, as you may have guessed, it's made out of tires. Yes it's is rubber, but it's tough.
Good luck.

*edit- another thing that we do with our dog, is to just use rawhide chews- or any chew really- and use it as a toy. It lasts long, the dog can chew it, it can be played with, and you can buy bags of them. Pretty nice.

I have a question about your toddler.?

Sara

I have a 2 year old boy and he takes a toy truck that he has and he throws it. But somethings the things he does is girlish. My husband was afraid that he could be gay. The way he acts sometimes he acts like he is gay. Can you tell me how your toddler acts.

For example, if a girl....does she act like a girl like being gentle with her toys. If a boy, are they rough with their things.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

Answer
all toddlers are active and explore things in their world. they don't even know what "gay" is to make a choice to be that. It's not uncommon at toddler and into preschool age for little boys to pick up a doll or girls to play with trucks and cars. It doesn't mean they are going to be gay or a lesbian.
Chances are once they start preschool they will figure out that there are differences in girl toys and boy toys and will gravitate to their gender more easily.

My son is 1 1/2 and he plays with trucks and cars, throwing or rolling balls and blocks and the like. He also carries around his teddy bear and stuffed animals like a tiger, elephant or monkey. He plays on swings or with ride on's and can be active outside and just as content to be cuddly on a lap inside looking at a book or watching a movie on family night. I guess I would say what he does is normal for his age. He plays rough, but he doesn't like to be "too rough" where he gets hurt or something is scary to him, but he'll play in the sand or the mud with the best of them. :)
I wouldn't worry.
Now, if he's six and trying to dress up in a tu-tu and go off to ballet class, then yes, I'd say you have something to worry about, but for now, he's just exploring his world and doesn't really understand about gender differences or that some things are more "girlish" than others.

How to potty train a boy when daddy works all the time?

Q. I have a 2 year old that I really need to start potty training. It is much easier with a girl. LoL I am wondering what is the best way to potty train my son since his dad is always busy?

Answer
Being a former preschool teacher and home childcare provider, I have potty trained MANY children and dozens of little boys..... There are lots of articles on the subject - but here is my personal experience:

1) A man does NOT have to be the one to teach a boy...Besides you are better off having small boys who are just learning - to SIT on the toilet and hold their "privates" facing down into the toilet, as opposed to standing. They can learn standing later after they are fully potty trained.

2) It is important for YOU to be relaxed about this whole thing. Learning to use the toilet is a natural transition stage in a child's life and shouldn't be rushed. When the parent is anxious... so will the child be.

3) There are exceptions to every rule (both of my own children were potty trained before their 2nd birthdays) -- But this is not the norm. Most toddlers begin to naturally lean towards using the potty between 2 1/2 yrs to 3yrs. And on the other end -- there are children who are still not potty trained at 3 1/2- 4.

4) The bottom line is that when a child is READY to be potty trained, my experience has been that it has NEVER taken longer than 3 days - week -- TOPS!!!! HONESTLY!!!

---- HOWEVER ---- and this is HUGE..... When a child is rushed to be potty trained before they are ready... it can take several months.... 'causing undue stress and anxiety on both child and parent..... AND... in many cases these children go on to have many more accidents than those who were not rushed.

I have seen it time and time again... a child going from adamantly refusing to use the toilet.... to one week later doing a complete about face and being totally potty trained in a matter of days.

5) The best time to begin potty training is to take your cue from the child.... When they show an interest in sitting on the toilet... or when they are "fed-up" wearing diapers... START.

6) Give them an INCENTIVE to use the potty.... something like "stickers" everytime they go.... and then give them a sticker to wear -- and another one on a chart. When they earn so many stickers -- they get a reward (try not to use candy...)

7) Give them a really great reward when they are fully potty-trained (Fully = wearing underwear.. and staying dry through the night on a regular basis) -- A really great reward for our children was a new bike. Make it something THE CHILD wants.... could be a movie, a toy, whatever... The idea is that they will be self-motivated to do it.

8) DON'T BELITTLE, SCOLD, YELL, COMPARE TO OTHER SIBLINGS OR OTHER KIDS, etc.... Some children are afraid of the toilet.. Use positive reinforcement only. -- And comparing is another way of belittling or humiliation.

9) Make the bathroom a fun place... with pictures, singing songs, whatever.... Put a photo or picture of something that interests your child at eye level across from the toilet.

10) Once you have started the potty training... Do "potty prompts" every 1/2 hr.... IE... every 1/2 hr ask if they have to go, & physically take them there if they have been dry for an hour -- even if they say they don't need to. Young children sometimes do not recognize the sensation of "having to go" -- and it is amazing when you put them on the toilet and they get surprised because the pee-pee comes out.

****** PULL-UPS ********

This is such a tough area..... But based on my experience again... When a child is started on potty training on their timing -- no parent should have to purchase more than one box of pull-ups.

Pull-ups are GREAT and BAD.... We all know the "great" reasons... But here are the "not-so-great" aspects....

They are way more expensive than diapers -- so if you start using them too early... it is going to cost you a lot. They have a tendancy to leak out the sides... ruining clothes, furniture, etc... They definitely are not designed to hold BMs... and kids at this age have larger BMs . -- Pull-ups have "stay dry" linings so that many times, children will runaround with a full pull-up and not feel a need to be changed.

What I have found works with pull-ups is to start using them when a child has begun to "tell you" that they need to go -- OR -- at the very least they are holding it naturally until you prompt them to go....

.... And for the child who wants to wear pull-ups because they are sick of diapers, and pull-ups are cute but they aren't at all interested in the potty...... USE THIS AS AN INCENTIVE.... Say, "Okay Johnny... Pull-ups are for big boys who are trying to use the potty.... If you will at least try.... Then you can wear pull-ups" (etc.)

Once you put them in pull-ups.... DO NOT change them like they were diapers.... (unless you have to).... treat them like underwear.

What really works for most kids is when they are home with you for the day (and "they" are ready for potty training) -- let them wear underwear..... If they have an accident... Most children immediately feel the sensation of wetness and do not like it and will run to the bathroom -- or at least tell you. This feeling quickly teaches them to recognize the sensation of having to go.... Of course you will have to deal with the mess... But if you are okay with that.... then most parents I have dealt with have found this worked for them -- and many times a student of mine has gone home on a Friday wearing pull-ups and by Monday they are in underwear.

My final word of advice on this is, once again.... RELAX -- This can be -- or actually -- SHOULD BE a fun and rewarding transition.... not one full of strife.

... Oh... one other thing... about the standing.... Little boys love to watch their Dads pee (let him)... But Mom's make the best teachers because we teach them to wipe themselves, wipe around the rim, put the seat down AND wash their hands! These are lifelong lessons that go a long way.... And their future wives will thank you!!! *LOL*

Answer
I have a little girl toddler. If you don't know already, take a minute and observe your child when she plays and decide from there what she's into. I'm being serious and not trying to patronize you. Toddlers are into pretend play, building blocks and movies. Hope this helps. Don't get them too many video games. It doesn't help them develop and encourages laziness at an early age if you ask me.

How do you organize your toddlers toys?

Dani

I have 2 toddler girls; 4 and 2 and not sure how I should organize their toys. I have been using empty diaper boxes for their toys (hey! they come in handy, haha) and I just throw everything in there.. big toys, small toys, parts to other toys. For the past few days I've been rearranging their room and want to organize their toys better. Where do you put big toys like for example a leap frog pad or anything of that size? How do you keep certain toys together like all blocks together, play doh, or whatever else like that?

My daughter's don't have a book shelf or any shelf in their room so I can't use anything like that. There are 2 dressers that would be free to put anything on top.

Come on guys, I really need some help lol I'm having brain farts! LOL Thanks

Answer
We're fortunate enough to have an extra bedroom that we've converted into a play room for the time being, so we have a whole room set just for my boys toys. I'm a bit of a neat freak and like to keep things organized. When we moved into our house I bought these big organizers from The Container Store and sorted each by size, what type of toy they were, etc. We bought two of the organizers-one for each of my boys. We also have other bins and a big chest that we've collected over the years to hold their things. All of it has certainly come in handy-and it manages to keep the playroom semi clean(most of the time!) :)

MUST HAVES for toddlers?

Q. As in toys etc., not just the most basic necessities.

My guys are turning 18 months old in a couple of weeks, and I am doing a half birthday party, and giving them a few gifts. So far I have a couple of Ikea potties to get started on intro to potty training, a Melissa and Doug latch board (they likely are a bit young for it, but love opening and closing doors so might get a kick out of it anyway), a tot sized table and chairs set from Ikea, a large roll of drawing paper and washable markers.

We already have a train table, Thomas trains, track, blocks, and tons of infant toys. Interested in toddler toys and other toddler things your kids REALLY like. Also toys etc. specific developmentally for toddlers, that I wouldn't have gotten them as infants and may not think about.

Any good ideas I don't get for their half birthday I will use for Christmas ideas. So far I just have tickle me Elmo and YMCA elmo. We don't have a private yard and our house is carpeted, so slides and the plasmacar won't really work for us.

Toy Ideas for a 14 month old?

Q. I need to pick a toy for my daughter who will be 14 months on chirstmas. I just got her a busy ball popper by playskool and she really likes that. She also just got a play kitchen like the toddler one she likes that too. The gift has to be under $30 should I ask for diapers? thats kind of boring she cant play with them I was thinking the VTech Submarine Learning Boat but any other ideas would be great

Answer
She's a bit young to really play with them now, but as she gets closer to 2, she might really enjoy some Little People, so it might be nice to get a set of those now -- maybe the farm set since the animals are fun and a good learning experience.

Books, balls, and blocks are also great at this age, and the fun grows with the child.

Another great toy for this age is the Aquadoodle. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3316091 It's a big mat that you put on the floor, and the child can draw on it with a water-filled "pen." Since it's just water, there's no mess, and the pictures just fade away after a few minutes, so it can be used again and again.

(livestock) beef? cattle? cow? what is the different?

Gabriel

yea im sorry, im stupid, but please answer seriously. thanks

what is beef? what for? eatable? milk?

how about cattle? is it milk cow? is that eatable?

what about cow? is it a milk cow too? eatable?

i am very sorry, since primary school, i only learn what is COW. i never learn about what is cattle and what is beef.

so those in diary farm or milk farm? what (cow/cattle/beef) do they use? is that eatable?

so how about those who raise livestock to sell the meat? is that cow? or beef? or cattle? can it produce milk?

Answer
Cow - an animal hearded primarily for their milk and meat
Beef - the meat harvested from the cow
Milk - well, just that, its cow milk
Cattle - term for multiple cows
Livestock - another term for multiple cows

Dairy cows are milked and are not used for beef

there are many different types of cows harvested for their meat, Kobe (in my opinion) being the best. Here in america, the conditions at most slaughterhouses (the facilities in which cows are butchered for their meat) are attricious. But kobe beef is grass fed, massaged daily, fed beer and kept relaxed their whole life, this makes for leaner, more tender meat.

hope this clears it up

Are hamburgers really just 1000 different cows put together?

helloevery

Answer
I think you might be talking about the fact that ground beef is just all the meat left over & ground I don't know that it is 1000 cows but if you are concerned about fresh ground beef, when you go to the grocery store you can get a roast (on sale if possible) & ask the butcher to grind that roast for you & that should have no problem.

What kind of toys do you prefer for your toddler, wooden toys or plastic toys?

harold

I'm curious to the type of toy material that parents prefer to buy for their toddlers?

Answer
Hi Harold,

I tend to have a strong liking for wood toys that are of excellent quality, but find that wooden toys are generally limited to blocks, puzzles and some very expensive hand made train sets. Some of the best wooden blocks on the market are Melissa & Doug's Standard Unit Blocks:

http://www.kids-toys-parents-love.com/standard_unit_blocks.html

They have other great wooden puzzle sets, and ImagiPlay makes an earth friendly dinosaur puzzle with non toxic paint: http://www.kids-toys-parents-love.com/Dinosaur_puzzles.html

Most of the toys we get for our kids are plastic, primarily because of selection and availability. They definitely are easier to disinfect and last just as long as the wood toys.

Most of the concerns over quality come from the massive 2007 recall from plastic toys manufactured in China containing lead and cadmium metals!! Besides keeping manufacturing jobs closer to home, companies like Little Tikes, Step 2 and Kid K'Nex keep a tight control over quality and materials. For toddlers, Little Tikes and Step 2 offer a wide variety of American made toys manufactured in Ohio, while Kid K'Nex is a great company for older kids who love creative building.

So in answering your questions, I prefer wooden toys, but availability and selection keeps our toy collection at 90% plastic and 10% wood.

Hopes this helps, and have fun playing with wood or plastic toys with your toddler!!

Toddler toys?

What is a good thing to buy for a 21m old? I'm always looking for something that will hold her attention because she's at home all day (except when I take her to the park) and she gets bored. She already has legos, trains, a kitchen, books, the usual. I'm thinking either a play tent or a little people playset. Any ideas?

Answer
My daugher is 21 months old (and I have a 3-year-old daughter as well). My older daughter LOVED her Little People at that age and still does. My older daughter has/had a much greater attention span than my younger daughter, so she tends to play with things for longer periods and always has.

Some other things that my daughters like(d) to play at that age...

- Wooden puzzles
- Reading books
- Dancing to music
- Toy kitchen
- Musical instruments (harmonica, drum, tambourine, bells, xylophone, flutophone, etc.)
- Dolls
- Play-doh
- Crayons
- Paint with water
- Bubbles
- Helping with easy housework -- mopping floor, dusting
- Pretending to be a dog/cat/elephant/etc.
- Drawing with chalk on the sidewalk
- Chasing me or her sister around the house
- Pulling a toy for the cats to chase

I'm sure there's more, but that's what I can think of off-hand. Hope it gives you a few more ideas!

vacation car ride with 3 kids....?

crazy_cat_

So next month we are going on vacation. The car ride isn't real bad, but with 3 kids I want to keep them as entertained as much as possible about 4-5 hours. We plan on leaving early early in the morning. Hopefully they wil sleep but knowing them they won't. Anyways. We have a portable dvd player we are taking, coloring books, books, smal toys, and we loaded the mp3 player full of their favorite songs, they also have snacks and drinks. We are going to stop at every rest area and let the stretch their legs. My kids ages are 9 months, 2 years and 3 years old.

Can anybody think of any things else I should have packed and or get for them. We are staying in the hotel for 5 days, but we have lots of things planned. But I am also open to any other suggestions for them.

What did you bhave planned for your kids when you went on a long drive somewhere, or on vacation?
We want to stop every chance we get, to make sure my sons have clean diapers, and a fresh bottle. And also if he eats in the car I want to wash out his bottle everytime. 2 years ago when we took our last cacation we didn't run into a lot fo rest stops. We live in Ohio and we are going up to Michigan

Answer
Portable DVD player is the greatest invention for long car rides! Last summer we did a 5 hour drive and this next summer we'll be driving for 2 days on vacation. Coloring books and some small toys are good as well as snacks and drinks. A toy my daughter had great fun with was this fold open magnetic book and she could play with that and i didn't have to worry about the toy getting dropped as it stuck right to the book.

I think its a little much to stop at every rest stop though. Depending on where you're traveling, you'd be stopping every hour. I'd just play it by ear on how the kids are handling the trip. For my 5 hour drive we stopped once. It may also be a good idea to pack lunch the 1st day. This can save money and is not hard to do.

Best powered riding toy for 15 month old?

abc123

What are your thoughts?
Hi, Clay! Thanks for answering. There are actually a few models out now designed for the younger kids.

Answer
I dont think that you should give a 15 month old a powered toy just yet. But around 3 or 4 years i would suggest you get a Powerwheel for him, they're made great and are super fun for little kids. Hope this helped!
