htr1103

50cc or 70cc

Answer
First off you should know that I am an ATV Technician with three children. I would have to say the bike for you from the limited info you gave me is probably going to be a Kymco Mongoose 50. It is a Taiwanese company try desperately to beat Japan out for quality. I know they are not real main stream yet, but they will be.

Kids ATV Ages 13-15?

Selena

OK well, im not a kid but a teen, 13-15, what kind of ATV should I get, I don't want one too small or too big. Please help!! Thank you! A link would also help.

Answer
my cousin is only 14 and she rides a 350cc. i'm 18 and i'm riding a 500cc(mostly for work). depends on if you want speed, 4weel drive, power. if you want speed you prabably want 2 go with a blaster, if you want 4 weel drive, its hard to say it jsut al;l depends on what you want the atv for.

if you want an atv for moving logs, going through mud, pushing snow(plowing) disking food plots(for hunting) disking your garden, going mostly in the woods, farm work. Hard stuff like that you probably want 4 weel drive anywere from 250-500cc

if you want to have speed, agility, racing, trixed out a little, out running cops? lol, you prabably want a atv 100-250(blaster and other racing atv's like that)

Kids between age 6 - 20:

Girls age 6 - 20
• makeup
• dolls; there are more pricey dolls for more mature children such as Japanese display dolls.

Recommendations for toys for an 11-month old boy?

TR

My son is just 11 months old, nearly walking alone, very, very mobile, active, always on the go, very curious and totally full of energy. What toys would you recommend for him? I'd like to get him some that will last for a while so well into his first year, keep him busy, and good for indoors and outdoors (we live in a warm climate, no snow!!).

Answer
My son loves things he can push and pull around, anything with wheels really like cars, trains, etc. He also likes wheeled toys that are attached to a string (that he can pull the string and it trails along behind him).

Other things he loves playing with are toys that make noise - push the buttons and they play music, beep, ding etc. We got him a couple of musical wheeled toys (a train and a car) that does the two in one - he can push/pull it around and press buttons to make noises.

We also got a couple of little balls that have rattly bits (bells, mini balls) inside them. It's great fun cause when he shakes them or rolls them, they make noise which he loves and it's also great for his mobilty and hand/eye co-ordination when he's trying to chase them or roll them to us.

Kids fighting?

Q. I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old son, my kids are always at each others throats. They fight constantly, both of them are equally in on it. My oldest son will just throw out his revenge no matter who's around and who hears it, my youngest son will be sneaky about it and only do it when nobody is around, or he thinks nobody is listening. My youngest has given my oldest a black eye from hitting him in the face with a toy, because my oldest pushed him down. They share a bedroom because even though we have a big house it only has two bedrooms in it, so we don't have the option to seperate them. THEY ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY, ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Also, I don't want anyone suggesting that I hit my kids in any way, or that I use military tactic's.. I'm not trying to run a boot camp, I want a solution that will teach my kids the importance of getting along without it having effects on other children once they become school age.
I have watched Nanny 911, I also own the book. Time outs do not work with my kids. I tryed taking away my oldest son's movies (he loves them more than any toy).. it only works temp. I have more trouble finding punishment for my youngest son... to be honest he's not really interested in anything... he could care less if I took the toys away or anything else for that matter. So what do I do?

Answer
My kids fight a lot also. My little girl is almost 3 and my little boy just turned 2. My problem is not quite the same as yours, since my youngest is always the one getting beaten up and getting hurt. My daughter is really very sweet, but can play quite rough and is very outgoing. My son is a lot more reserved and cautious, and has low muscle tone which causes him to fall over very easily.
Anyway, I am in the process of trying something new with my daughter. Just like you, I tried time-outs, taking toys and priviledges away, nothing worked, it was actually getting worse and worse. I spent a couple of sleepless nights over it, as I felt bad for always being mad at my daughter and b/c my son was always crying b/c he got hurt! I made a "good behavior" chart for my daughter. It has 10 blank squares drawn on it (you can do this by hand or on the computer), with numbers 1 thru 10 in the squares. Every time she behaves well (e.g. she doesn't hit or otherwise hurt her brother the whole time I make lunch or dinner, or she shares her toys very nicely while they're playing) she gets a sticker. I make a huge deal out of it, she gets to pick and put on the sticker herself. The chart is on the door inside her room. If she behaves really badly, I "take away" a sticker: I have a big red permanent marker and mark all over the last sticker, and she has to re-earn that sticker. When she collects 10 stickers she gets to go somewhere special. We just started this a week ago, and her behavior has definitely improved significantly already. Not perfect (but hey, what toddler is perfect!), but much better. I think this might really work. Worth a try I think.

how many kids fought in the civil war?

Q.

Answer
I'm not sure. I know a lot of Southern kids fought. Look up Krisp Academy in Georgia, they trained the kids to fight there. Those kids were involved in a battle with Union forces who did not want to return fire because they were just kids. On another note, my great, great, great uncle joined the Union army at 14years old. He lied to get in, of course, but I don't know why they let him in because there is a pretty obvious difference between a 14 year old and an 18 year old. My family has all of his Civil war stuff, journal, rifle, badge and picture. It's pretty cool.

I am looking for a toddler toy - John Deere Rubmling riding tractor. Does anyone know where I can buy one new?

GCA2006

Answer
Toys R us .. maybe.

Are there any 'fix it' toys for toddlers?

Q. I don't mean a tool belt or a tool bench, but actual toys that need 'fixed'.
I came across a John Deere tractor that had a screwdriver and another tool stored in the top. The truck would 'break' and ask you to 'fix' something, requiring the child to pretend to 'fix' it.
While the Amazon reviews all said the toy was great, nearly all of them said it broke way too easily. Do you know of,or have any toy that will let my son 'fix it'.
Tools Holland. We need tools. I let him play (supervised) with my screwdriver while he 'fixes' his cars.

http://www.amazon.com/John-Deere-Electronic-Fix-Up/dp/B000A7ZYOU

I wish this toy were more durable. It is perfect. It asks the child to check the tires, gas, whatever and requires them to 'fix' it.

Answer
I don't know if I understand, does it come apart and the child actually puts it back together or do they just pretend?

Anyway, we have a lot of building toys.
Lego/Duplo, obviously

Linkin Logs: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_UUwfV0GDHnM_L1W9LnY86esBmcqQQDJX0zgPYZPu_W1ybgiCzu1bTieAGPABkVYQFZpFHm5R3X7_ZpInm8Dz75Fh_c7r6GwxK3pB4g0EwWDflQmYAw0gc8teuxOGQke1EqgwkP44nk3G/s400/cairo+and+his+linkin+log+skyscraper.jpg

Kapla Stacks (these are pretty hard): http://www.creativityinstitute.com/productimages/blocks/Kaplasample.jpg

Oh, and my son's favourite, Geomags: http://the-gadgeteer.com/assets/thinkgeek-geomag-geopanel13.jpg

Duplo, Tinker Toys, and building blocks might be easier for a 2 year old. Linkin Logs and Geomags are maybe suitable too. The other ones are a bit too fussy I think.

Why not just get him a set of tools and let him fix whatever he wants to fix?

There are pretend tool desks that come with things that can be screwed in and stuff. Like this one...
http://www.diapers.com/p/Little-Tikes-Work-Bench-73013?site=CI&srccode=cii_9324560&cpncode=00-81278542-2&utm_source=cse&utm_medium=cpc_D&utm_term=VX-098&utm_campaign=nextag

...that have things that can screwed in and hammered in, is that what you mean?

What is the best emergency alert system for my situation?

Q. I need to find an emergency alert system for my boss and I.

We don't need/want anything that involves a call center, simply something she can always keep on her that she can activate to alert me if something should happen and she can't get to a phone.

Please do not suggest programs that involve a call-center, since that's not what I'm looking for.

Thanks!
Okay, I think I need to clear up what I'm looking for. I'm her personal assistant, and live on the property, but not in the main house. So, if she were to fall, I wouldn't hear her unless I'm in the main house.

We want something simple, so she can just push a button to alarm me in my apt. The longer we can put off actually using one of those systems with an agency behind it, the better. She's a very independent person.

No cell phones, no call centers, no 911. Just a direct line from her to me. Anyone know of anything?

Answer
I have to ask why you dont want a professional service. The only other option I really see is a cell phone. At least with pro services, all she does is click the bottom and there. They will get ems out quicker as well.

I normally dont recommend paid alarm services, but in the case of medical emergencies, it really is best.

I just cant think of another option than carrying a cell, that she may/may not know how to use properly.

I know you can buy like fire alrams that arent connected to a service but still hook into your phone lines to dial 911. Is there something you can do like this for her? Like an alert necklace that you can program to dial out when she presses it.

Also, if its an emergency, like medical, someones breaking in, ect.... First call needs to be 911 then you, not the other way around.

Since you worried about emergencies, here is another suggestion. Find a local non emergency number for your 911 center. Call it, and make sure they have the crorrect address and directions for any number she would be calling form. Also have them add a note about any med problems that she has.

Who Invented Emergency Alert System?

Q.

Answer
U.S. President Harry S. Truman established the CONELRAD system in 1951. After the development of intercontinental ballistic missiles reduced the likelihood of a bomber attack, CONELRAD was replaced by the Emergency Broadcast System on August 5, 1963, which was later replaced with the Emergency Alert System in 1997; all were administered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The Emergency Alert System (EAS) is a national warning system in the United States put into place on January 1, 1997, when it superseded the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS), which itself had superseded the CONELRAD System. In addition to alerting the public of local weather emergencies such as tornadoes and flash floods, the official EAS is designed to enable the President of the United States to speak to the United States within 10 minutes,

So I guess the answer is either President Truman or the FCC invented the system?

Do you think parents should beat there kids?

lexi22

Hey I need to write about parents beating there kids. I need 7 reason why or why not you think parents should beat there kids.
Yes i mean BEAT and not SPANK.
Please no cussing or words like crap and hell. my teacher says it not "appropriate" for class (me:rolls eyes)

Answer
No - parents should not literally beat their kids. Spank, yes. Beat, no.

And your teacher is correct. Using cuss words or words like "crap" and "hell" are not appropriate for public reading (maybe it is in the adult world - but even then, to a point). The reason for this is because it makes the author (you) look immature and gives the impression that you are not very well educated.

1 - Beating a child - whether or not you have good reason to - shows the child that it's okay to beat up other people - which is really NOT okay.
2 - The psychological ramifications can last well into their adult years.
3 - The child will not understand why he or she is being beaten because the parent doing the beating is angry and will probably not explain anything.
4 - The child will feel as though he or she is not loved - which could cause other behavioral problems later.

Can't think of any other reasons - sorry - I'm a few short.

what do you think of parents beating their kids?

tarkan

is it addiction? or psychological illness? or its the reflective behavior of their childhood life? what do you think is the best treatment for this behaviour?

Answer
Personally, I don't think that beating their kids is the right way to teach them a lesson. It isn't addiction or psycological illness, though. It may be a reflective behaviour of their childhood life. Their parents may have beaten them while they were a child. And as they grew up they probably believe that is a good way to disipline their kids. Most parents in America ground their children. And some parents beat their children. Beating their children is very wrong but it actually works to disipline your children. Why do some kids not repeat the bad stuff they have done? Because they don't want to be grounded again the same as they don't want to be beaten again. Which is more effective? Probably the beating. Sometimes parents also get really fustrated with their children how they are disobeying them; So they beat them. But the biggest reasons why it is bad to beat your children is because:
1. It hurts them.
2.Eventually they will be scared of their own parents.
3. They aren't learning from their mistakes. They just don't repeat the mistakes because they just don't want to get beaten.
The only treatment for this behaviour is to make the parents realize that, that isn't the right way to disipline your children.

Where can I find stroller toys for an older baby/toddler?

oswegolind

I was wondering if they make stroller toys that attach to the stroller that would be appropriate for an older baby/toddler of 16 months old? If so where can I find these? and can you provide links to where I can buy them? If there aren't ones that attach to the stroller any stroller toys that are age appropriate would be fine if you would provide me with links to them, thank you!

Answer
This is a cool toy that kids that age will like. It is basically a steering wheel with buttons and sounds great for this age. Buy baby links to attach the steering wheel to stroller and the child can toss it overboard when they are done and get it back when they want it. Try that technique with all sorts of toys. I included links as you asked.

What toys should 1 year old get for bday? Baby Toddler?

MissLead

This age is entering a whole new stage in life.....and will start needing new toys. Ive been asked by my family to make a B-Day list for my baby.

What toys or things did you get or wish you got for your 1 year olds B-Day? What would you reccomend? All the toys I have now are for under 1 year like teething rings and rattles.

Answer
when my daughter was one we asked for toys that said on the box 12+ or 18+ months and pretend play things like puppets and dolls, a play tent and a little tikes workbench. even though yours might not be quite ready to play with those things properly they are fun for them to bang arounf with and then after a few months when they catch on they will have the next stage of toys available to them. they seem to go though a stage around 12-18 months where they are too big for baby toys and too young for the next stage toys. my daughter at 18 months it really just starting to use the older kid toys. oh yea the one thing she loved when she got it at her first birthday was the FisherPrice Little People bus and farm. another great gift was toddler style musical instruments (if your sanity can handle it). anyhow hope that helps .

Looking for a toy laptop for a toddler that LOOKS like a real laptop?

Skittles a

I don't really care what it does because my toddler LOVES to just sit and push keys on my laptop. Just want it to look like a real laptop.

THANKS

Answer
One of my friends and I were having this discussion just today - it seems as though all of the laptops they make for toddlers are brightly colored, round on the corners, etc. I guess we need to write to the toy companies! Some of the ones for older children look like real laptops (like this one: http://www.amazon.com/VTech-Grade-School-Learning-Notebook/dp/B001QHGAJQ/ref=sr_1_45?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1259009350&sr=1-45), but of course they are not made to be roughed up by little ones (and probably contain plenty of choking hazards!). Anyway, Amazon.com has a ton of toy laptops, and depending on your price range, you can probably find one that fits the bill!

Does Michael jackson remind you of Ronald McDonald?

Q. He really reminds me, cause they both love kids.
Does he reming you of him?
And when did Ronald McDonald die?(Fake question)
I'm not being mean or anything. Michael jackson was cool and didn't do anything. No Hateful/Rude Comments.

Answer
Michael Jackson? Well, yes...they both had that real white skin, and funny noses. They just loved kids,
and cartoon charactors, balloons, and toys, and acting silly....for starters...

Michael Jackson?

Do you think Michael Jackson did a good job parenting his kids by the way they seem?

Q. They have manners and he was always by their side, plus he gave them love. What do you think?

Answer
I've watched many clips of Michael with his children and have read many interviews of people describing MJ as a father, and I have to say, from the info I gather, he has to be the best father I've ever seen. In just the short clips I saw, MJ spoke to them with patience, respect, and ever so loving and soft voice. He asked them intelligent questions that got them thinking, he was adamant in them using manners and being kind to other people. In a video clip he asked Paris a question, and Prince cut in from the back. MJ immediately said "Prince, I am talking to Paris." I mean, they weren't even allowed to talk over each other, you can see the degree of manners he imposed on his children!

I've read bits of info from here and there, people saying that every Christmas, his children will get abundant of toys but he will only let them chose one to keep, and give the rest to charity. In toy shops, MJ would spend thousands of dollars on toys for other children, but his own kids were only allowed to chose one to share between them. They weren't allowed to watch TV, surf the net or go on the rides in Neverland unless he was with them or he gave permission.

As you said he was always by their side. They used to sleep in cribs in his room, and he bottle fed them, changed them, bathed them, fed them, cooked for them himself!

He never yelled or smacked his children. If they were naughty, the worst punishment was time out facing the corner.

A recording artist once recounted MJ bringing in one of his children to the recording studio. During then the kid spilled popcorn all over the studio floor. Just as this artist was about to pick up the phone to call in a cleaner, MJ said "No, I'll clean it up, my child made a mess so I'll clean it up" and there is was, Michael Jackson, on his hands and knees picking up his kid's popcorn. He even made the child apologise, twice, because the first time didn't sound sorry enough. The artist commented "You wouldn't see Madonna doing that!"

In clips of him revisiting his hometown of Gary, Indiana, MJ went to his favourite store, Salvation Army. A sales clerk showed him some nifty swiss army knives, and MJ "oohhhhed" and "aaahhhhed". When asked if wanted to buy one, he said "No....I can't....I have children at home..." It was obvious he based his life around his children, never putting them in dangerous situations!

His song "You Are My Life" is dedicated to his children. Any human being can write such a beautiful song about children, you know they mean a lot to him.

Even now, from looking at his children, you can tell they were raised in a very good psychological and physical environment. I'm a little worried about Blanket though, he seems a little wild and rebellious (but shy), and he spend the least time with MJ. I hope they stay beautiful and continue their father's legacy of love.

His children are living proof that MJ's views on loving children is nothing dirty and wacky as the media made it out to be. He really believed that children are the world's future, and if we want to heal the world, we have to start with treating children with love, respect and raising them positively, nurturing their innocence and purity.

Bad at drawing?

natalie b

I'm not too bad at drawing..When I draw what I see, the drawing comes out pretty good. But when I draw what I think, it doesn't come out too well.
Will I ever be good at drawing the things I imagine?

Answer
I found drawing what I see from life has helped immensely. I used to just draw from photographs and other two dimensional sources so I really didn't have to abstract anything, but once I started drawing from three dimensional forms drawing from my imagination became so much easier!

HOW TO BE A DRAWING MASTER..?

DaNiEl L

I CANT DRAW, BUT I WANT TO BE A DRAWING MASTER..

Answer
The more you draw the better you will be. Draw every day, give yourself challenges, try lots of different books on drawing. When I was about 6 I became really interested in drawing, and always had a pad of paper close to me. I would draw every chance I got, or every time I saw something I wanted to draw. It wasn't that good back then, but from drawing every day for most of my life came my good drawing skills. If you at least draw one or two pictures a day or for 30 minutes a day, you will get there. Don't worry that their not perfect. That comes with time and hard work.

Would it be really hilarious to shut off the EBT cards for a month?

Merle 4 Pr

How many people would throw themselves at Obama's feet, begging for his scraps? Hilarious.

Answer
The welfare class would riot in the streets. I saw a young mother with 2 kids buy $50 worth of food from the Dollar General with EBT. Then she pulled out a $100 bill to buy $50 worth of toys. My father is a farmer and he feels if the welfare class is abolished they would come and loot the farms where the food is grown. Obama does not pay them out of his private stash like so many think he does because they are just as ignorant about economics as he is.

Can you give me some NEW questions about NASCAR?

PLEASE stay in the guidelines of NASCAR, Driver Ability, Driver Stats, Teams, Team Owners, Make of Cars, Crew Chiefs, Tracks, Races, Driver Biography etc.
Maybe some TRIVIA.

PLEASE AVOID USING TOPICS REALATING TO:
1. Driver's sexual preference
2. Driver's sex appeal
3. Driver's appearance
4. Favorite Driver
5. ANYTHING RELATED TO BASHING

We've already answered these types of questions many time.

Answer
Dixie I'll give it a shot.
1-Brian France is going to tweak the cup points system before the 2007 season what changes would you like to see NASCAR make to the points system.
2-Should NASCAR limit the number of Cup drivers who are allowed to race in the Busch series. What if any changes would you like to see.
3-Should NASCAR come up with a chase specific points system for the last ten races for the drivers who make the chase.Explain how it should be set up.
4-Did NASCAR go far enough when it limited the number of teams one owner could have to four teams. How many do you think the limit should be.
5-Do you think there are any NASCAR basher's with an IQ of at least 30.
6-Is ten the right number of slots available for the chase if not what would be a better number.
7-Does NASCAR put too much emphasis on projecting a squeaky clean image, explain your answer.
8-Should winning a race be worth more than 5 extra points.
9-Should points be awarded for winning a pole.
10 What effect will the "car of tomorrow " have overall on racing.
11-Is NASCAR shooting themselves in the foot by spreading the broadcasts over multiple networks.

OK #5 is a joke sorta kinda, well maybe not.
that's all I can think of right now I'm still in an Ambien haze and my mind is having trouble getting out of neutral.

What Happened NASCAR FANS?

GODSMACK#1

All of a sudden we turn against each other? What is going on? What did I miss? Charlie is Unfortinatly leaving, others have left. Why?? What is the Big Issue, REALLY?
Dixie, your right, Operation Clean up WAS NOT intended for reporting people. It was for the people from the football, F1, or where ever coming in the NASCAR section and bashing our sport. Who ever reported Charlies joke is wrong. Then the people who come in and tell us to bring it, and some people did. They just couldn't handel it. So they reported the person who brought it. (I think that was their intentions) Thats why I stay away from those type of questions. I know what they want, as the old saying goes, "There coming to take me away HAHA!!""

Answer
MudWrangler and 07BoyerFan and Gloria are right.
They came in saying bring it some gave it and they couldn't take it and reported everything and gave thumbs down to good answers. Good people have been reported for no good reason. LikeCharlieP.
Some feel it is the work of Operation Clean Up. That too was attacked ..saying Operation Clean Up was mimi Magnum PI want-a-bes or something to that affect.

The ones that say they want it cleaned up around here are some of the ones doing the attacking. And they are some
of the ones that are posting questions bashing teams and
instigating a war. A lot of these are not posted today, I
guess due to being reported. But they were here .

everyone was attacking everyone..now..everything is deleted
all kinds of nasty remarks. It was nuts!

This is all being blamed on the ones trying to clean it up.
All the thumbs down, questions and answers being reported is not the work of Operation Clean Up. The only thing reported are the out siders coming in to stir up trouble and making personal attacks and threats all out bashing and being rude and sexual content

The reporting that's going on to the Real Nascar Fans
is the work of trouble makers, And it's worked, they've caused a lot of trouble on here and it's cost us a lot of good people.

07BoyerFan answered another question and he was
right on ! They bait with a question, when the resonse comes, they report it to get people ID's deleted.
(those weren't the exact words but 07BoyerFan is right!)

It's really gone crazy around here. People are your friend
one minute and they attack you the next. It's crazy!

I hate to see Charlie go. He always had good answers and a funny comment. And the thing about the joke..that wasn't Operation Clean Up. regardless of what some may think.
I thought the joke was funny. Any driver name could be put in.
It probably would've been funny to the driver himself!

Maybe if we use the energy it takes to fire back at bashers and those we don't agree with by telling WHY he's our favorite driver or team and WHY NASCAR IS SO GREAT
we might win over a few more fans! Who Knows.

One last note: OPERATION CLEAN UP 's intention was NOT to report every little playful banter...it was to clear out the BASHERS AND TROUBLE MAKERS that come here to do only one thing........START TROUBLE!

I'm sorry if I led anyone to believe otherwise.

Now...CAN WE PLEASE GET BACK TO NASCAR??

the questions
the debates
the jokes
the playful banter
the opinions

We've been turned on each other..
The enemy loves war in the camp..when the defense is down.
He attacks!!! Look around..he has and still is!!

Anyone notice the outlandish pricing of cheap toys for kids this year?

bangatangl

I was maybe the 30th person in line waiting to get into Toys R Us on Black Friday. All my kid wanted was a playset for the "all of a sudden" popular Zhu Zhu Pets. Everywhere you look on the internet you'll find a bunch of selfish, money hungry jerks selling these products for insane amounts of money! I bought 3 zhu zhu hamsters 2 months back for $24, and now they're going for 10 times the amount or more! People are buying the entire stock on the shelves and not giving anyone a chance to own because all they think about is the money. It's pathetic! Curse all you jerks who bought an over supply just to make a profit on a toy that costs hardly anything. Reminds me of the selfish acts from years before with Tickle me Elmo and the Furby.

Answer
Just like Furby and Beanie babies the fad will eventually wind down and they will be everywhere. You'll find Zhu Zhu pets at every toy store on sale, and at thrift stores, and yard sales, and eBay. I remember when beanie babies were so popular, now you find them at Goodwill for 25 cents a beanie baby.

A cheap toy when I was a kid, can't remember what it was...?

I'm almost 30 so this was 20+ years ago. You could get these little things at gas stations or at wal-mart, possibly in those quarter machines. It was a little strip of plastic and you put it on the palm of your hand and it would flip over or curl up and that was supposed to determine your mood or something like that. It either came in a quarter machine or with some type of candy. Does anyone remember this because my husband thinks I'm crazy! If anyone knows what it was called that would help me a lot.

Answer
A Fortune Teller Miracle Fish. Watch as the fortune teller miracle fish's movements decide your fortune! This is a classic novelty that makes a little plastic "fish" the "fortune telling mind reader." Place the magical red Fortune Telling Fish on the palm of your hand and watch it begin to move, wiggle, curl up or flip off your hand all by itself! Kids love them! Great for in-class demonstrations. For more fun, look on the back of the special envelope to see the movements meanings. Are you independent? Are you fickle? Are you in love? See what the Fortune Telling Fish has to say about you!

is it normal to talk to cats?

beth

i have a simease mix named psy and hes kinda chatty (he meows alot) and like when ever he gets mad at me i talk to him and he like meows back at me is that weird for me to talk to him?
he stops being mad at me after i talk to him

Answer
lol, I have 6 cats and I talk to all of them. There is an interesting piece of research that says cats have learned to do things that make their people respond. For instance, on of my cats is a female that was partly ferral when I got her. After taming her, she "calls" with a trilling sound. It is the same sound a mother cat makes to call her kittens. I "reply" with a short high meow to let her know that I am coming. Another one is a cat that I have had since her birth, (helped deliver her when her mom was having trouble) who learned that I let her out when she says, "Eooooow". When she does it, it almost sounds like "out". I don't think learning to communicate with anyone is weird be they humans or animals. :0)

Answer
i have been there..we went to dollartree one yr and bought my daughter all kinds of stuff they are all new and in packages and 1.00 cheaper than a thrift store..also i do know that toys for tots helps, the salvation army, and the united way. you need to get them on the lists asap to help also..i dont know if they have this or not where you are, but one yr i went to h&r block and i got a loan off my income tax in december i will be doing that this yr they start it on november 17th this monday maybe you should check into that. its like a line of credit off your income tax. you know come to think of it one yr my mom couldnt afford christmas for me and my brother and she went to rent a center and did a 1 week free thing and got us something there maybe you can get a playstation 3 from there and go to a game stop and buy a few cheap used games. if you need thanksgiving dinner check pantries in your area. the will be giving dinners away and also christmas dinners too. if you need a tree it is best to wait the week before to get it at a great price!! not from a tree lot but like from walmart or your local grocery..I have been there keep your head up and remember your boys love you and they will understand that this yr will be rough but i know better times will come for you and your family..may god bless and i will pray for you..

Angel Tree-The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program provides new clothing or toys for children of needy families, with angel tree’s often found in high-traffic areas such as malls, churches and corporations. Each tree is decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age and gender of a child who will receive the gift. To sponsor a child from the Angel Tree, simply remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags. The organization displaying the Angel Tree is also the collection point or drop-off location for all gifts.

Toys for Tots- The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program helps needy children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas; playing an active role in collecting and delivering a shiny new toy at Christmas. Local toy collection campaigns begin in October and last until December 22, with toy deliveries normally taking place on December 23 and 24. Community members drop new, unwrapped toys at toys for tots locations, which are collection boxes positioned in local businesses. These toys are stored in warehouses, sorted by age and gender, and then delivered to needy children at Christmastime.

Operation Christmas Child- Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to needy children around the world through shoe boxes or small plastic containers filled with unwrapped toys, school supplies, candy and other gifts, then shipped to needy children overseas with a personal note included. Suggested gift ideas include toys like small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, and toys that light up and/or make noise. Christmas gifts of pencils, pens, crayons, markers, coloring books and other art supplies are encouraged, as are gifts of toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap, and other personal care, hygiene items.

Make a Wish Foundation- You can make this holiday season special for children dealing with life-threatening medical conditions and illnesses by your generous donations to the Make a Wish Foundation of America Adopt-A-Wish program, thus helping a child’s dream come true. Make a Wish’s unique holiday donation options help grant the wishes of children, creating special memories for the wish child and family. Those who adopt a wish by making a donation are provided a unique and special story of how your donation bought joy to a wish child.

My Two Front Teeth- My Two Front Teeth is a non-profit, charity organization that provides donated toys to underprivileged children in daycare, preschools and community agencies. You can donate toys online; just sign up to receive an email notification prior to the holiday season, choose a child to sponsor and purchase and donate toys to children in need via My Two Front Teeth. My Two Front Teeth offers a personalized, online gift-giving experience to aid underprivileged children. Children are selected through community organizations and allowed to individually pick their one holiday wish.

The Christmas holiday season is fast approaching, so start an annual tradition of charitable giving, donating toys and other items to needy children and families. Setting the right example and role-modeling heartfelt giving, volunteering to help serve holiday meals in shelters or soup kitchens for the homeless, children are less likely to grow up with a serious case of entitlement and will have better appreciation and gratitude for what parents have done for them throughout the years.

So yeah

Answer
You can find lots of rc planes on Toys r us and don't be looking for a 3 or 4 channel one, they only have 2 channel planes and some 3 channel helicopters that cost 50 box, the 2 channel plane costs about 30 dollars and up.

you can find 3 or 4 channel planes on www.nitroplanes.com www.bananahobby.com but i believe they're 50 dollars and up.

Good luck trying to find a 3 - 4 channel plane at 20 - 30 dollars...

You get what you pay.

How To Make A Non RC Plane With A Motor ?

Vivek

Please help me in doing this project and i dont need rc plane
i need only non rc plane
pls send me links

Answer
Buy an RC kit plane and don't put in the RC stuff. Glue the controls or clamp the wire leads so when you move the surfaces from the outside, they stay in position.
Unless you turn to the control line flying (pun, sort of) how are you going to control where the plane goes and get it back? And if you are just going to start it and let it fly, there are going to be some people extremely irritated when it hits them or their car or their house - or a full-sized airplane.
It is theoretically possible to put a micro controller in a plane and have it autonomously fly the plane out and back, but lots of work, lots of risk, and costs more.

How did Los Angeles get its name?

Garrett La

How did Los Angeles get it's name? The angles?

Answer
It's a long story, but I'll try to shorten it.

First off, Los Angeles means "The Angels" in Spanish.

There is more to it than "Los Angeles." A Franciscan priest by the name of Father Juan Crespi founded a river in the area and gave it the name "Nuestra Señora de los Angeles de la Porciúncula" (Our Lady the Queen of Angels of the Little Portion) now known today as the LA River.

Fast forward to September 4, 1781, a new settlement was established along that river. The settlement came to be known as El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciúncula or "The Town of Our Lady the Queen of Angels of the Little Portion." But you can call it Los Angeles.

(Sorry. Animaniacs reference.)

Toys & Games For 6 Month Old Baby Boy?

amys728

I have a six month old son. He is a really happy baby. He's always smiles & laughs & all you really gotta do is barely look at him & say hi. He also loves to just stare & look around. Especially if we're outside or in a new place. He gets so fixated, observant & pays attention so much on everything going on around him. He is so good when I take him out in public b/c of this. I was wondering if anyone can suggest any good toys or games I can play with him that will help him developmentally? I just want to give him as much stimulation and enrichment as possible. He really likes to play w/ toys. But I just have really simple, non-learning type of toys right now, don't know what to buy. We talk to him constantly. I heard that helps. We've talked to him since he was born, like when we change him, feed him etc. Sometimes it's in baby talk & sometimes it's normal talk.

To sum it up, what toys are good for a 6 month old boy developmentally? Are there any games I can play with him to stimulate & enrich him?

Also, has anyone used the Baby Eistein DVDs? Do you think they really do any good or are they just hype? My son actually does like to watch t.v. alot, especially cartoon shows.

Answer
You can go on Ebay and buy the Einstien DVD's at a better price than in the stores. That's what I did for my 4 month old.

6 month old baby boy.........?

Kayli

What should my 6month old be doing?

How was your 6month old for sleeping through the night? how many naps did your baby have during the day??

What toys are best for my 6month old???

Answer
well he should be rolling over. my son rolls to one side. but it's because he hates belly time so much still. he sits up great supported, but not on his own yet. he should be reaching for everything, trying to put everything in his mouth. he knows his name, says mama. he is trying to wave bye bye now. he doesn't like strangers. well he is all smiles at them but doesn't really let anyone but a few people hold him.

my son is 6 months. he gets a bath & bottle before bed. he goes to bed around 830-9pm. a lot of times he will fall right asleep. some nights i will have to go in his room 4 or 5 times to keep giving him pacifier back. within 20 min. tops he's out for the night. then he wakes up for a feeding around 6-7am. on weekdays when i work i get up him up at 630. he will go back to bed for a couple hours usually at my mother's house. or on the weekends when i am off work, he will play in his baby bed 30 min. to an hour, then fall back asleep. (of course right now he is sick with an ear infection & a cold and has been very restless & waking up once)

during the day my baby usually takes two 30 min. naps. (and it's like an alarm with 30 minutes) that is on most days. however some days he will take an hour and half or two hour nap. but not every day. 2 naps a day either way.

my son loves those books (that sounds like paper crumbling) and he loves his play keys. he loves to hold something soft when he takes a nap. (preferably a blankie toy) he has this ball he likes that moves & plays music, lights up. he likes his play piano. and i have one of them baby einstein fish aquariums hanging on his baby bed he loves. he will cry if he's not asleep yet at bedtime and it goes off. however when he plays in his bed, he has figured out how to turn sideways and turn it off & on a bunch of times lol. he also has a jumper he likes sometimes, and he loves to take naps in his swing while watching TV.

What Emergency calls do wildland fire engines respond to?

Why does a fire truck accompany a ambulance to a 911 call scene?

TIGER

I'm not sure if this applies to every state but I live in Arizona and I'v seen four different 991 calls for my neighbor who has heart problems and I was wondering why a fire truck always comes along even if it's not needed. Thanks!

Answer
A Fire engine is the first to be dispatched for several reasons.

1) they can respond faster than an ambulance as they are staged at a station that is close and an ambulance could take as much as 20 minutes to arrive depending on their call load and location.

2) Most Firefighters are also trained as at least an EMT and ALL engines in Arizona have a Paramedic on board and have all the required gear for ALS treatment.

3) Firefighters are equipped for breaching/rescue operations if they are needed to reach the Victim, Ambulances are not and would have to wait for either the police or a fire engine.

What is your toddler girl's favorite toy?

HP Wombat

I'm visiting my niece this weekend, and she's celebrating her 2nd birthday. What toys does your toddler girl LOVE that costs less than 30 dollars?

And, just to show I'm not a bad aunt, just leaving it up to strangers to come up with ideas for me, I'm thinking maybe...

a bubble-blowing kit to make huge bubbles outside
a fun sprinkler
a very very simple computer game (she LOVES the computer, and can't stand never being able to use it)

If anyone has experience with any of those items with their toddler, or can add to my list of possible gifts, please let me know :)

Answer
Your ideas sound great. Lots of the two year old girls I know LOVE Dora the Explorer...anything and everything Dora related. Dolls, books, blankets or a pillow in the shape of favorite cartoon character. I'm not sure if you have a Target near you but they have really cute cartoon character sprinklers.

A Sit & Spin might be fun for her too. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2264694&cp=&sr=1&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2254197&origkw=sit+and+spin&kw=sit+and+spin&parentPage=search

a bubble mower

Toddler activities for busy mom?

cqueen4

I need some ideas of activities to play with my toddler and ones for him to do alone.

I am a stay-at-home mom but also have a four month old son who I am nursing. It is hard to give both boys attention, make meals, do housework, etc so I end up putting the TV on for my toddler A LOT.

It is all educational shows but I want something else to do with him and mostly for him to do alone. He has toys to play with but it seems he gets bored of them and wants to come find me. I will play with him as much as I can, but I need to give attention to my younger son. And I have many things I need to get done around the house as well.

Ideas of activities we can do together? Ideas of activities he can do alone while I'm doing housework or taking care of my baby?
I should have mentioned that my toddler is only 17 months old.

And I am a stay-at-home mom...I love my son and want to give him attention but cannot afford to be hiring a babysitter like that!
I mentioned his age because he is not old enough yet to just sit and color on his own or to help me w/ chores.
I just have to say this - please so remarks of "get a babysitter". We can't afford one plus we actually believe PARENTS should raise their OWN children.

And just so I don't get any other comments about me writing so many details - both my sons are napping right now and I'm waiting for the dryer to finish so that's why I am online quick trying to get some bills paid and am looking for answers to this question.

Thank you.
I make sacrifices so we can afford for me to stay home w/ my children so I don't appreciate the responses saying that I should just go out and hire a babysitter as a way to remedy my situation - that's all I was getting at

Each to their own on daycare or not....I believe it's wrong but that's my right as it is your right to disagree.

.

Answer
My older two are 17 months apart, so I know about where you are right now. For what it's worth, it does get easier, and my girls are now very good friends (at ages 4 and 5 1/2).

Anyway, here are some things that worked for us while I was nursing the baby, cooking dinner, etc.

Play an interactive game where you're talking a lot, but don't have to *do* anything with your toddler. One that my daughter liked was "baking." She'd mix up some imaginary food in her toy kitchen and bring it to me to taste. I'd take a little taste and then respond, "Hmm, needs more cinnamon." She'd take it back and mix the imaginary mixture again. We'd go back and forth for quite a while with me recommending a variety of ingredients and saying that it tasted yummy or yucky each time.

Read books while nursing.

Make up a "treasure box" of things that your toddler can only play with while you nurse the baby, and swap items in and out occasionally. I used a shoe box and put in several small things like a deck of cards, small board book, measuring spoons, toy necklace, toy car, small doll, etc. Most of the stuff was just whatever I found around the house, but I might occasionally buy a new toy, too.

You might want to consider getting an Aquadoodle. It has a water-filled pen, so there's no mess, but it allows the child to draw all over the mat. When the mat dries, they can start over. That was a wonderful purchase when my oldest was about 18 months old.

Have you tried play-doh yet? I've found that play-doh in the high chair (or at the kitchen table) can be great for keeping a toddler close but occupied while I make dinner.

Another thing my youngest really likes to do while I work in the kitchen is play with water. When he was a few months younger, I'd put him in the high chair and pour some water into the tray. Then, I'd give him a cup or a spoon to splash around in it. Sometimes, I'd put an ice cube into a cup and let him play with that (while watching carefully that he didn't put the whole thing in his mouth, of course). When he got a little older, he liked to stand on a chair at the kitchen sink, and I'd turn on a slow stream of water from the faucet for him to play in. Yes, it's a little messy, but it's just water.

Do you have any good toddler CDs or anything that your little one likes to dance to? That's something else that has kept my kids occupied for longer periods of time. I interact and dance around with them while I clean, but I can still get stuff done.

If you're taking care of the baby, let your toddler take care of his own baby -- feeding, diapering, etc. And don't worry if he tries to nurse his own baby, too. :-)

If you're doing housework, let your toddler help as much as possible. I know he's little, but he can use a dustcloth, push a toy mop/vacuum, use a wet washcloth to wipe a table/counter, etc. My 20-month-old likes to help unload silverware from the dishwasher and put laundry into the washer/dryer.

Finally, accept that the cleanliness of your house may not be up to your standards for a little while. I now have three kids under the age of 6, and my house definitely doesn't look the way I want it to, but it's worth it to spend more time with my kids and less on housework. My husband jokes about a "10-year plan" -- in 10 years, the kids will be old enough to keep up the house a little better. In the meantime, we'll just keep doing the best we can, but try not to stress about it. :-)

Boys having girls toys.?

BABY BOY!

Do you think its ok to give your toddler son a pram, doll or doll house ect...along with others of course? i know many mothers who have...but my nephews grandmother seems to think its wrong and that he'll turn out gay ir sumthin!!! in my opinion if he turnt out gay it wouldnt have anything to do with the fact of giving him that when he was younger!!!

Answer
It's fine. I have three boys and my youngest who is 3 started playing with this baby doll and carrying it around the house ever since he found out I was pregnant with a baby girl. We also have one of my old doll houses in their playroom and he uses it as a "secret hide out" for his action figures. My husband finds it a little weird, but it's not the end of the world nor is it going to make someone gay. If that were true, there wouldn't be that many straight guys today. You'd be surprised at the number of men who played with dolls, dress up clothing, barbies, cribs etc. They grow out of it just likes girls eventually grow out of the stage themselves.
Best wishes =]

2 year old incapable of playing with toys/kids?

Q. I am taking care of a 29 months old little girl and she is the most adorable little thing ever and so smart, however, she has no social skills. She has no interest in playing with toys or my son (27 month old), she just follows me around the house. When around her parents ( which we are very good friends with ) she is constantly following them, playing to distract them, to get their attention. Always screaming over us, always interrupting . Her parents cannot have any type of adult interaction without her desperately trying to steal every little bit of attention she can get. As I mentioned before she is very smart, able to communicate in complete sentences , but kind of a savage. I feel bad for her and try to play with her, give her attention, show her she is loved, but she won`t take it. Is it just lack of attention from her parents that she is starving for or is there more to it? I am thinking that if she was just starving for attention she would allow me to give it to her, but she is NOT. Any insight? Thanks
No, this is not typical 2 year old behavior, I am around children all the time and have not seen it in other children. I have a 7 year old daughter also and I am a very social person and I know how a 2 year old should act.
I spend a lot of time around her and her parents. Her mother works nights and during the day she sleeps while her daughter is doing her own thing around the house. I took her to take care of her because I feel bad for her and the child needs attention.

Answer
She hasn't spent much time around other kids as yet. She is confused about why her mother is sleeping and is not spending time with her. She's one of those kids who doesn't like playing with toys that much. She's bored. She's one of those kids who is more reliant on adults as a 2 year old. Also, smarter kids often do prefer to be around adults rather than kids their age or younger.

I remember my son going through a phase like that at around 30 months as well. Now at 3 years old, he is able to play by himself and can't get enough of other kids.

Do you think she could be a bit of a 'slow to warm up' kid and she's not ready to accept your attention as yet, but would rather watch you for a while? Possibly a bit low in confidence as well I'd say.

What are the top toys kids are wanting for christmas this year?

willwork4u

So has your kids told you what they want for christmas yet? Let me hear some good ideas say for girls around age 7-10 yrs old? This info will help me alot!

Answer
Webkinz are quite popular--they are stuffed animals that also "live" online.

There's also a new Barbie MP3 player that, in addition to playing music, also allows users to log onto an online Barbie community. http://www.popgadget.net/2007/05/barbie_mp3_play.php

If you can find a Wii (and want to spend the money on it), there's a lot of really nice girl-friendly titles.

Build a Bears continue to be hot items.

There's a Monopoly "Boutique" Edition that is all about shopping at the mall. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2627189&cp

There's also a Monopoly Jr. focused on the super-popular Disney Channel movies and shows. http://www.amazon.com/Hasbro-Monopoly-Junior-Disney-Channel/dp/B000R6V9HU/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/002-9104986-0724864?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1191237391&sr=1-2

Anything High School Musical will be very popular as well--there is a DVD of the live concert tour, plus keychains, poster books, dolls, and more. Hannah Montana dolls will also be big sellers.

For a 7-year-old, if she's still into dolls, consider the new Newborn Cabbage Patch doll. They're on sale this week at Toys R Us for only $12 with free shipping--and they're really cute.

Other ideas:
Activity kits (including jewelry kits) from companies like Klutz ( http://www.klutz.com/catalog/category.php?goto=1000&for=girls&age=8to10&srt=1&x=10&y=15 ) and Creativity for Kids ( http://amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-9104986-0724864?initialSearch=1&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=creativity+for+kids&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go )

Gift cards. Kids love being able to pick out their own gifts.
