Toddler behavior problems?

hypnotik61

I am a stay at home Mom to a 2 year old little man. He just turned two a few weeks ago, and just like clockwork, he entered into the "terrible twos" a week before his birthday.

He is really pushing me and my husband to our limits. He doesn't want to do anything anymore, and will scream and kick at you if you try to dress him, give him a bath, etc. I can't walk into the other room for 5 seconds without him panicking and calling my name. If I don't come running right away, he gets angry and starts throwing things.

The one thing that has got us frustrated beyond belief, is he will not eat. I am so lucky to get one meal in him everyday. We took him to the doctor, and the doctor said he wasn't worried about his eating, that his weight was normal, and this is pretty common.

I am trying my best to ignore his horrendous behavior, but sometimes it's just too much. This isn't just little tantrums here and there, he is acting like this all day, everyday, if I'm not constantly playing games with him. I don't know what to do. As much as I would love to, I can't spend my whole day as his playmate. He never went through separation anxiety like this before now.

Please, we need some advice!! Thanks!

Answer
These are punishments and disciplining methods to use:
Next time he does it say no and tell him why it is wrong
If he does it again put him in time out
If that doesn't work then put him in time out for a little longer and take his favorite toy away for a couple days
If that doesn't work put him in time out then spank him. It won't harm a child. In the old testament it says spare the rod and spoil the child. The best way to do it is to turn him over, spank his bare bottom twice with an open hand but only give him two because of how young he is. Don't do it too hard just enough to hurt and for him to get the message. Before the spanking put him in time out and cool down take deep breaths have a quick drink and then calmly one of you talk to him. Very calmly in your regular voice.

Some children are different. Spanking sometimes doesn't work. Just stick to talking to him firmly, taking toys and privileges away and time outs. Do not spank often if it works. Very occasionally. When he throws tantrums put him in time out. If he gets up and runs away put him back until he stays. He has to learn to stay there on his own.

I am very sorry if my advice doesn't work. All the best to you!

Why do toddlers love electronics?

crymearive

He's finally quit the head banging, but has picked up a new activity whenever I am out of the room even if it's just for a few moments he gets into things he knows better than to bother for the sake of doing it, granted the things he's doing seem quite ingenious for his age and cute I am reaching my breaking point. I don't understand he has a room full of toys but insist on turning the tv on and off and removing his sesame street dvd from the dvd player and putting it in the xbox. There is no distracting with something else like I said he has a room full of toys that he can play with anytime he wants he just loves the things that we don't want him to touch. I've tried putting him in his crib, time outs, and smacking his hand all to no avail. He's nineteen months old and seems so proud to have learned the things he has learned and smiles when I walk up but he seems so mischievious. Help?

Answer
Children at that age are getting into everything. Certain things grab there interest. Especially things they can explore. Toys are good for passing time but once he figures out everything it does he'll want something new. Your child's mind is soaking up information at an incredible rate. Whenever he does something that gives him something back, like pushing buttons on the DVD player, he remembers that and wants it again. He is trying to understand the world through actions. Cause and effect, this for that, and it's all about him. He wants to experience things and he can only see things that are here and now. The other room might as well not exist. He also has a short attention span. Like maybe a minute or two at most. Young children don't have the ability to focus on thing like adults do. A shiny surface, open door, or even a sound that you would ignore might be a lure for him to explore something new. You will constantly have to engage him in activities to keep him out of trouble. For things you don't want him to touch, try putting them up high out of his reach. If he comes to you for something to do, take him there instead of just telling him. Words don't have as much meaning for him as direct experience. That is what he wants most.

Fun things to do with the kids you babysit?

sara

Okay I babysit these kids (two boys both 10, two girls one eight and one seven.) and i am running out of ideas of stuff to do with them. I mean it can be just stuff for girls or just stuff for guys or stuff for both guys and girls. HELP!!! P.S I am at the job now so I need some help pronto!!!

Answer
anything that kids want to do.... painting, hide and seek, reading, puzzles... pretend to be super heroes !!

all these things... i used to love dress up, so maybe bring some of your clothes for the little girls to try on.

shops is another fun one, get lots of items from round the house.. set them up behind u and use a calculater or computer keyboard to pretend to sell things to the children if they give you the right exchange.. (ie one of their toys) or you can use their toys and they have to do little missions to get their toys back... its a fun game :)

Where can i find a new keyboard for kids between the age of 10 and 14 thats under 50 bucks?

can you post a link to the site? thanx in advance.

WHY are sex toys SO MUCH CHEAPER on Amazon??

Pearl of t

Why are sex toys so much cheaper online through Amazon? It almost seems too good to be true?? A lot of things I say were a fraction of their price at Adult Video Megaplex or Adam and Eve? For example, the California Exotics Jack Rabbit Vibrator is $100 at the store, but about $27 online through Amazon? That's amazing! But what's the catch? Seriously, does anyone know??

http://www.amazon.com/California-Exotics-Waterproof-Rabbit-Floating/dp/B001GCVKU0/ref=zg_bs_3777811_5

Answer
to be honest.
a lot of the stock they get is from china, and all made from materials we are not 100% sure about, of course its cheap. and also a lot of replicas too
putting things into your body..i would be very cautious and never pay too cheap for an item.
when it comes to makeup, skin, body etc..never pay for a shortcut..we should look after ourselves.
i would never buy off amazon anyways.
my friend owns an online shop
feel free to take a sneak peak..top quality stuff

good luck

Whose better icp or twiztid?

James

I say icp cause they are

Answer
I prefer ICP over Twiztid but I wouldn't say either of them is better than the other, not overall anyway, they are both good at certain things.

ICP is good at being random and funny, at taking you on weird cartoon adventures, at making you think about life in a deep way, and just purely entertaining you - making you laugh at the weird shit they come up with. They have a way of helping you enjoy being YOU. So you only got one eye, fuck it! That's dope! So you walk with a limp. Fuck it, that's some Zombie Schwag. So you grew up in a swamp with a homeless Witch as your babysitter. Fuck it, least you learned some wicked spells!

Twiztid is good at well, being fuckin' Twiiiiztiiiiidd!! - They do scary music, more aggressive content, more lyrically complex. I would say they are more scary Horror where ICP is FUN Horror :-D.

I can say that I think Twiztid are better Rappers than ICP (sorry J and Shaggs :-P). I can also say I think ICP are better showmen than Twiztid.

Who is better, I duno.

I prefer ICP. They my shit! Twiztid is fuckin' dope too :-D

Who is better who is better!!!??? AHHH!!!

If I had to choose one, in my case, ICP is "better".

Who is better? ICP or EMINEM?

snsk123

who is a better rapper (what do you think is better) just say who i really wanna see what the people on yahoo answers think.

Answer
ICP by far, but i have to admit that Eminem is coming around now that he dropped is lil gay high voice act.
ICP can flow with different styles of music, they're dedicated to their fans and have deep meaning to their music.
Eminem definitely has talent and one day hopefully the lame fued between the 2 will end and they will do a track together. They're both kinda twisted in their own ways.
Yes I'm a Juggalo, but I can still give credit where it's due

Best pocket bike for kids?

Asia D

I want to purchase a pocket bike, mini dirt bike, or mini quad for my nephew's graduation present. He is 6 years old, about 60 lbs, average Height. I want to know the best thing to get him, if there are any with speed lock-outs or remote shut offs. A few good name brands would be awesome. I also need something I can get training wheels for. I'm looking to spend no more than 500. Please no comments about how he doesn't need one or that he needs to be supervised he is well taken care and we understand this isn't a toy. I just need advice on what to buy. Thank you!

Training wheels are not cheap, they cost around $150. You can also look for used training wheels on Ebay and Craigslist.

If your nephew can ride a bicycle, he will be able to ride a dirt bike. I am not a fan of quads. When I taught my children to ride, I also let them ride my buddies quads. They all preferred dirt bikes to quads. Quads are super easy to learn to ride, but are very easy to tip over and if they do not keep their feet on the pegs can get run over by their own machine. Quads are also heavier than dirt bikes and if the child flips the quad, they may not be able to get our from underneath it without help.

This is the motorcycle racing section, so we mainly only recommend racing machines, but since he is just starting out a true mini-bike from say Sears or Pep Boys might fit the bill fine. These mini-bikes brand new cost under $400. Have large 4-stroke lawn mower engines on them and are perfect for trail riding and basic transportation. If your nephew likes riding though, he will outgrow the mini-bike within a summer.

Don't forget riding gear. Helmet, goggles and a pair of riding boots. Goggles, gloves, shoulder pads with chest protector, kidney belt, armored riding pants and racing jersey can come later. You can find used gear at Ebay, Craigslist, garage sales and flea markets. Does he need the protective gear for a mini-bike? Probably not, but a helmet and goggles are the minimum he should have.

If he ever needs tips on riding or maintenance, tell him to check Youtube. The amount of information on there is unbelievable. He can learn everything from fixing a flat to rebuilding an engine.

Be honest....Do you make your kid wear a helmet every time they ride their bike?

Mrs. Doe

I didn't even know what a helmet was when I was young, but I do agree they are safer than not wearing one. We went to toys r us and got my son a tricycle way back at xmas and they were trying to tell me I needed to buy a helmet for my son? He has been riding since then with no helmet, but idk... do you make your child wear one to ride a bike? My son is almost 2 and I don't make him wear one when riding his trike but I'm not sure yet if I will make him wear one when he is older.

Answer
yes my kids wear a helmet every time they ride a bike or a skateboard. I can't think of one good reason for to NOT wear one. Fact is it's safer so why would I take a risk like that?

My husband was hit by a car while riding his bike an old back road (a 16 yr old girl who just got her license hit him) when he was 15. He almost died and was in a coma for a couple weeks. He now has a metal plate in his head and had to relearn stuff. If he had a helmet on, his injuries would not have been as bad. Because my husband has actually been through an accident like this, we can't imagine sending them out to ride their bikes without one and honestly, they don't mind wearing it. If the rule is helmet or no riding from the start then it just becomes automatic for them rather than a battle each time.

EDIT: I don't understand the whole "we survived without them" thoughts. They didn't always have seat belts but that doesn't mean you don't buckle up your child. I guess people just never think anything bad will happen to them or their children....it happens.

I can understand if you just don't think a helmet is needed but to thumb people down because they take safety precautions with their kids...that's just ridiculous.

EDIT2: Jane Doe are you a male or female? Just curious because your profile says you are a male but I always thought you were a female because of your username.

What are the cool toys for 7-8 year old girls?

janez1

I am buying Christmas gifts for 2 african american girls, ages 7 and 8, who are from a struggling family. hey are "girly, girls" and like dolls, arts, etc. What are the cool gifts for a girl this age? Also, they need shoes. What is "in" for 7-8 year old girls?

Answer
Well, what's in for that age group now is:
Hannah Montana and Disney stuff.
Zhu Zhu pets are VERY popular this year.
You could get some "Make your own bracelet" kits.

For shoes I'd go with a cute pair of sneakers, just anything pink or purple and girly.

What are the new "in" toys for 7-10 year old girls?

ShaNayNay

I seriously need to start my christmas shopping this weekend! If I don't begin now, when I should have started back in August, then christmas is going to be ugly.

i don't know what to get though! i have a girl, and she's almost 8. very diva"ish". what are the "in" toys these days? does anyone know?

thanks for your help, everyone!

Answer
Zhu Zhu Pets are some of the hottest toys this year for girls in this age range. In case you haven't seen it, a Zhu Zhu Pet is basically a cute little "pet" hamster that will interact with you. Very cute and VERY popular this year.

Liv dolls are another hot new one for this year. It's a new collection of dolls designed to look like teenagers -- basically combining fashion and online community.

Of course anything with the Moxie Girlz is a sure hit, but you may want to check out the Moxie Girlz Art-titude Airbrush Fashion Gallery.

You can't go wrong with the classic Barbie. New for this year is the Barbie 2009 Holiday Doll or the Barbie Pink 3-Story Dream Townhouse or even the Barbie and the Three Musketeers Corinne Doll.

If your girl is into arts and crafts, Paperoni Deluxe Studio is a hot seller this Holiday Season.

HELPFUL TIPS ON POTTY TRAINING TODDLER BOY?

Mz.HELLOo

okay so my son is 2 1/2 and is no way near to get potty trained. im kinda concerned that he dont want to go near the potty and try. i know most kids this age are already trying or showing signs but my son is the complete opposite. he simply says no no and no when i ask him if he would like to go poitty like a big boy. i can get him to sit on his little potty for a couple of seconds but after that he gets up and runs away. this is my first child so im a little confused about what to do in situations like this. so if anyone can help most preferably moms that been through this it would be helpful :)

Answer
He may just not be completely ready, my DS is 2 1/2 as well and we just convinced him to start using the potty about two months ago. What worked for us was buying him big boy underwaear, we told him he could only wear them if he put all his pee and poo in the potty and if he got any in his underwear we'd have to take them back... and it worked like a charm! He's being doing great!

Another thing we tried (though it don't work for us but has for a few of our friends) was making him a potty box, we filled it with toys, stickers, books, & games that he could only use on the potty (our boy figured out how to get into them but it has worked for our friends!)

Another thing I heard that works is reward charts, every time he pees he can get one sticker and everytime he poos he can get two, and once he fills up a whole row or the whole chart he gets to get/pick something special (like a new toy or somewhere he really enjoys going, say an indoor playground).

But like I said before he might just not be ready, on average most boys don't start potty training until they're three, so don't be so hard on yourself, when your boy is ready he'll go on the potty. Don't stress him about though, the more you force it the less he'll be willing to do it. Also before started potty training my son we read him a few books about using the potty and we emphasized that BIG boys use the potty and he was going to be such a BIG boy once he went on the potty too.

Essential toys for toddler boys?

Sweetpea h

I want to buy some toys for my son, who will be one this fall. He really doesn't have many toys right now, he'd rather play with the remote. But we want to get him some more interactive, imagination/or educational toys. The only toys I can really think of are blocks and maybe a pedal car. I don't really want to introduce him to war toys, though. What are the favorite toys is your little dude's toy box? We are talking like, 1-3 year old here.

Answer
I've got two boys ages 3 and 2. They love playdoh, if he still puts stuff in his mouth you may have to wait a bit on that. Ride on toys a great one is prince lionheart ladybug, a flying squirrel is good too, puzzles, toy story action figures (buzz and woody), play kitchen, baby dolls, pop beads, walmart shopping cart, shape sorter, elmo toys, play phone, brio pull along daschshund, ball pit, sand box, easel (finger painting), lite brite (small parts), sit and spin they didn't do this till 2, tonka trucks, drums, play tools, candyland factory game, busy bee honey tree game, lucky ducks game, gator golf

Did Republican Governor Scott Walker waged the war on Christmas this year?

Alejandro

In a Black Friday fundraising email to supporters, the Scott Walker re-election campaign asked supporters for a holiday contribution to his re-election bid that will last another four years.
“This year, we are celebrating the Holiday Season with a Black Friday special that is better than any deal found in stores,” Friends of Scott Walker’s Taylor Palmisano wrote in an email, then he continued:
“Instead of electronics or toys that will undoubtedly be outdated, broken, or lost by the next Holiday Season, help give your children the gift of a Wisconsin that we can all be proud of,” Palmisano continued.

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/12/gov-walker-urges-parents-to-skip-toys-and-send-the-christmas-money-to-him/

But... I thought liberals waged war on christmas?

Answer
Yes. So did Fox News: http://www.buzzfeed.com/dorsey/fox-news-wishes-happy-holidays-to-bill-oreillys-viewers

As you can clearly see, this is a complete nonissue meant to sell Fox News pundit's books and to get ratings.

Do I have a case to sue Kmart?

disguised_

Can I sue kmart for canceling a Christmas layaway and not contacting me about it. I paid for it in full on December 19th, 2012 and have bank records to show that they did take the money out (December 21st, 2013 is when the payment was processed). I tried to call several times but the 800 customer service number keep hanging up on me so I eventually emailed them on January 2nd, 2013 and demanded that they send me the children's clothes and toys or they refund my money. They wrote back 3 days later saying that my layaway had been automatically canceled and that the funds should not have been taken out of my account - which they were. I wrote them back stating that I have not recieved my refund yet. So they wrote back 5 days ago saying they had "technical difficulties" and I should recieved my money back in 5 to 10 days. I sent them a follow up email today. I mean come on 30 days, and I still have to wait 5 more...I obviously used layway because I am not made of money. Plus, it was winter clothes and christmas toys for my children. I guess my question is can I sue kmart if my money is not returned in next 5 days? I am in peirce county, wa if it makes a difference. Also, if I do have a case what do I do next because I am utterly clueless about all that?

Answer
Suing them will require thousands of dollars paid to a lawyer to represent you. Money you will not get back, because your refund will arrive long before a court would hear your complaint.

Which toy kitchen is best for a two year old boy?

poutyp11

My son will be two at the end of January. I am thinking about getting him a toy kitchen for Christmas or his birthday. I might decide to wait until after christmas and get it on sale for his 2nd birthday! Anyways, which kitchen do you find best for a two year old BOY. I know a lot of them look more girly....but I think my son will enjoy it too. A link to the ones you own would be great....or I'd like to hear why you don't like one.

Thanks in advance!

Answer
We have boy/girl twins and have been looking at a few for Christmas - here are the ones that we are considering - we don't have a ton of space so we are looking for smaller and more affordable ones - they are also not too girly in color and style - the first one is probably the one we are going with:
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2310847

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2316877

If money and space were not an issue - I would go with this - ridiculously expensive but really cute:

Where to get a halo replica gun made?

Nick

I know you can make them yourself, but I'm too lazy to do so and don't have the artistic skill required to make one. Is there some sort of company that could make one for me for relatively cheap? It can be made out of almost anything.

Answer
Online stores would be your best of finding a replica of a gun from Halo. Maybe try toy retailers especially Toys R Us. But for replicas, you would need to go online most likely.

What are you getting your 9 year-old girl for Christmas?

Sara Smile

My little girl loves stuffed animals, and littlest pet shop toys, but I am trying to find something else she would like to have. I just don't know what else to get her.

Answer
I have a 9 year old girl and I find it a little harder this year because they are out growing toys and mine is not that into clothes yet.
Here is what mine likes:
She loves the Dairy of a Wimpy Kid books, lap top ( heard they are going to be really cheap on black friday), Littlest Pet Shop (you can play online), WII, and she loves real rings and earrings (can find them at Wal-Mart cheap or pond shop), surprise her with concert tickets of Hannah or Taylor (both are in concert right now), NINTENDO DSi, digital camera, I POD or you can go cheaper with the MP3 player, flat screen TV, computer games or board games, there is a remote at Wal-Mart that Sam on iCarly uses that is fun. Hope this helps!!

use toys??
what types??
is it safe and good??
I need to no for my gf

Answer
Toys are generally safe. "Good" is subjective and would depend on the individual.

IMO, they are ALL overpriced, but like anything else, the more you pay the better they get.

I say this with one caveat, the cheap little $10 - $20 "bullet", "rabbit" or "dolphin" is a great little stimulator. Maybe you could start with something like that and work your way up.

They can get quite sophisticated if you're prepared to spend over $70. Some have realistic "flesh" and can vibrate and revolve in incredible ways. The other cheapies (vibes and dildos) might be OK at first, but they don't last long. They're usually made from hard plastics and can be uncomfortable.

Personally, I MUCH prefer stimulation on the external vulva than vaginal penetration with a plastic object. That's why the good old cheap "bullet" might be a good starter.

What does the abominable snowman eat?

annuhstazy

I really need this. It is for a school project and I can't find it anywhere. please tell me the source you got it from because I have to site a website and my teacher won't be happy if I say yahoo answers. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
I don't care if it's real or not, frankly I don't think it's real, but it's a stupid project and all I want is an A. thanks again.
Please tell me the full URL because I can't give my resources without it

Answer
The abominable snowman or Yeti is REAL,many peopls have seen it or it's tracks but it's elusive. It is not a bear but half human and half ape and it could be the missing link between the crouching man and the upright man.

It's diet would be the same as modern people such as vegetables and meat. It's best food would be a yak but being wild,it will eat it raw.

Evolutionists, how do you explain the abominable snowman?

Windom Ear

Prominent creation scientist Em Adjineri has recently been studying the evolution of abominable snowmen and has determined that there is no way they could possibly have evolved.

According to the theory of evolutionology, abominable snowmen evolved from regular snowmen. However, after closely studying the fossils of both abominable snowmen and regular snowmen, Em Adjineri discovered a startling lack of good fossils that displayed the link between regular snowmen and abominable snowmen..

Em Adjineri found plenty of fossils of half-abominable snowmen. However, all those fossils were transitional fossils. Like any good creationist, Em Adjineri ignored the transitional fossils.

As long as one ignores the transitional fossils, it is clear that abominabilty is irreducibly complex. Therefore, it could not have evolved through natural processes. The only explanation is that God created the abominable snowmen on the 8th day after he finished resting.

Take that cryptozoolutionists!

Answer
Yes, but what about the UN-abominable snowmen?
There are actually giant snowmen out there who AREN'T abominable! They're out there, living perfectly nice, moral lives. (Take a look at Frosty, for example...)
And they have found fossils of clearly evolved snowmen. They have detemined that they started out as a puddle in Roanoke, VA, then it evaporated and became a cloud over Greensboro, NC, then snow, then a snowball, and thence into a snowman!

funny pranks for Halloween?

Q. There are these 3 kids about 1-2 years younger than me. I am 14 and they live on the street next to mine. They ride on my street with their bikes and annoy me on purpose for no reason. And they sag, talk urban, listen to rap and stuff, which is also annoying. One day while they were riding down my street and rode by my house, (They didn't see me) I overheard them making plans to come in my neighborhood for Halloween specifically saying they each weren't going to trick or treat. So I would like some legal ideas to wait on them and prank them. Does anyone have good ideas?

what sort of gift can one give to 1 year old girl?

mee

my cousin daughter would turn 1 next week , and she is throwing big party on her birthday can u tell me what sort of things can u give one year old

i would prefer something not to costly , financially i am not to good these days

Answer
one year old about anything in the baby toddler. Go to walmart look at the the toys for babies toddlers. Buy her something that says 12-18 months. Also ask the mom what she plays with? I mean my grandson loves plastic forks. he carries them around. Hes 17 months old. That would make his day. So each child likes differant. But if you buy something at walmart the mom can take it back. also you could get her a gift card for a place to eat like mcdonalds if they let her eat there. buy her a barbie to put up.

cheap toddler room ideas?

lilbabemom

ok, i want to decorate my 2 year old girls room but we are on a budget and i have to do this at a fairly cheap price and i need ideas of all kinds so anything will help. She will be sharing her room with her baby brother (due in may) but the room is divided up. the carpet is like a maroon color( nothing i can do about that , at least not right now) the walls and ceiling are white with nothing on them at all. she has hot pink curtains over the window. Her bed is plane and white toddler bed with princess sheets and pillow case. She has all different size stuffed animals and all kinds of toys. And before anyone says anything.....im not good and building things. please help me if you can...thank you

Answer
I would just get her some decals or stickers (you get them at walmart in the paint/diy section by the wall paper) to make it look more girly on her side of the room, like above her bed. You get princesses, Dora the explorer, Tinkerbell, flowers etc. My daughters loved glow in the dark stars/flowers etc, and we hung fairy barbies from the ceiling with fishing gut so they look like theyre floating around her bed. Total cost for making it look cute, like $20.

who should say sorry?

Alison W

my friend bails and lies to me all the time. she cancels plans last minutes. and blames everything on her parents divorce. so thats why ive been talking behind her back.she found out and now we arent friends. ive been feeling guilty about it and i feel like a bad person. but i dont know if i even want to be friends with her anymore. whos fault is it? who should say sorry?

Answer
Both should say sorry but the chances of your friend saying sorry may not be forthcoming. Be realistic that she may never. Unfortunately, your friend has used her parents' divorce as a crutch instead of allowing herself to grow, she has chosen to allow herself to atrophy. Atrophy of any muscles become useless. Eventually, you have to let go of the crutch and do the hard work to make it develop. Granted it is painful, but the rewards could be awesome.

Perhaps you should apologize by stating, "I am sorry I spoke bad about you behind your back. That was wrong of me, but I am very frustrated by you constantly cancelling plans we make as I get excited we are going to do things together and then get so very disappointed when you don't make it. I miss our old friendship. I am sorry about your parents. I am sure it sucks for you, but you can't let your parents' mistake to define your happiness. Only you can. Let me help you remember life can still be fun and no matter what, the next plan we make together, I will come and drag you by your hair and I don't care if your even naked, you are still going out with me!" Say something like that with a smile and a giggle and see if that will help.

Also, no more talking behind people's back. Sometimes a frank conversation with honesty can clear many misunderstandings. There may be more going on with her cancellations, try to find out what is going on deeper in her world if she will let you. If she declines, respect it and just let her know you are there.

Sometimes, friends do grow in different directions. That is OK too and try not to look at how the friendship ended but how the friendship you had enriched your life and made you today!

Good luck and I do hope it works out for you

Why is saying "SORRY" not enough?

Q. When people say sorry to other people for doing things wrong they say "Sorry isn't enough",I mean, What else do they want!?

Answer
Saying sorry is expected from a person who has said or done something wrong to another. Some are sincere and really do mean it but some just say it for the sake of saying it.
Its really the actions that follow after one has said sorry that would really make things 'right' and 'enough'.

Flying to Hawaii with toddlers, do we need car seats? 1 and 3 year olds?

J&M

We are flying from WI to Hawaii in February 2013 staying at Disney Aulani ( our first time so if you have any tips that would be great) so it is going to be a long flight!
I know our 3yr old needs his own seat, does he need a car seat?
Does our 1yr old just sit on our lap?
We already will have our double stroller so how do you lug a car seat too?
Any tips on how to survive this long flight with 2 toddlers?

Thank you for all your advice it's going to be a great trip just a little stressed about the travel part.

Answer
Any car seat needs to say FAA approved, many booster seats are not OK. check your seat label for the FAA OK for your seat. You can 'gate check' the seats plane side. FAR BETTER than 'checking in; the seats as baggage (good chance you will never see the seats again!) Be sure to label ON the seat and stroller your info. Plus use the label tags the airlines give you. (and easily falls off, this is why to label ON the stroller and seats). The 1 yr old can go on your lap, the 3 yr old can go in a car seat or airline seat (if he is good with wearing his belt)
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/index.shtm
http://www.faa.gov/passengers/fly_children/

If you can gate check seats and stroller you take those with kids in then right to the plane. Call your airline about that double stroller and if it can be gate checked along with two car seats. As for surviving the flight, label toys too. We take three toys per child. This way, we pack our bag when right before the 'descent' and now each kid has three. This is easier to keep track of..

how to make toddlers stop crying in school?

Sabrina

2013 has just began, and so has pre-school, for many little toddlers.
During one lesson observation in the first week of school, many 3-4 year old toddlers were crying, and hugging thier mums leg tightly. Some continued crying long after their parents left, and some would not let go of thier parents.
My question is, how do i encourage these toddlers to let go?
And, how to make them stop crying? ( I tried distracting them with toys/baby biscuits, videos of barbie/lego, assuring them that thier parents will come back very soon. It worked for some, but not others. One would kick, stamp his feet, and scream really loudly when his mum goes more than an arms lenght from him)
Do you know any other ways?

Thank you so much!!

Answer
As tough as it might be, when I took my son to daycare, the staff encouraged me not to linger. I stuck to a "bye bye" routine: I would tell him that I was going to school, that he was going to stay here and play with his friends, and that I would come back when I was done (or tell him his dada would pick him up later). I would give him a kiss and tell him I loved him, hand him over to a teacher, wave bye-bye and leave. We talked about this from the time we were getting out of the car to the wave. If there was anything that the teachers and I needed to discuss we would try to keep it brief, and sometimes they would write me notes.

I don't know. From a parents perspective, I appreciated guidance from the teachers on what to do to minimize that drama. My son was definitely a crier until we established a routine.

importance of child development?

Kaylen and

Why do you believe it is important to study and have an understanding of child development? Coming from a teaching or parents point of view.

Answer
Understanding child development is important for several reasons. As a parent, you'll want to know how do everything you can to make sure your child develops properly. This includes giving them nutritious foods and doing activities to strengthen their mental capacity, like reading books, taking them to new places, talking with them often, limiting TV, etc. Also, you can understand how your child thinks and be compassionate. If you understand that kids can't control their bowels until around 2 and a half, then you won't scream at them for wetting their pants at 2 years old, ya know?
As a teacher, understanding child development is very important when developing learning objectives. You're not going to expect 2nd graders to be able to think abstractly or understand algebra. Also, you'll understand the importance of developing their minds for higher-order thinking skills.

im taking child development in community college???

B

i was wondering if its a hard course?

what do you do in child development class?
is there alot of essay's or projects?

what do it mean when someone say you have to write at a college level?whats the difference betweeen high school level and college level?

Answer
in child development, you learn about how a child develops between conception and 5 years old usually. you will learn about normal development and disorders that change development. you might also learn about gender identity and child abuse.

you will probably have to do 2 projects. this could be finding an article about child development and then telling the class what the article was about during a 5 minute presentation. it's really not a big deal.

regarding your writing ability. if you were an okay writer in high school, then you will do just fine in college. there really is no difference, but as you go through college you will learn more about writing. if you are trying to get a degree, then you will have to take an english class. this class will teach you more things about writing.

uncommon gift for a 3 year old girl.?

the good l

I don't like to give clothes and toys as gifts. Little kids usually have plenty of that already. I try to get a little bit more creative with my gift giving. The trouble is that I have had so many little kid birthdays lately and the kids are all in the same circle, so I can't really reuse any of the ideas. I need some outside the box ideas for a little girl who is turning 3. She is very smart for her age, so something appropriate for 3-5 year olds would be ok. Any ideas?

Answer
here r some ideas i think would b different and definatley used or enjoyed.

*some sort of baking kit, my daughter loves baking and you can get the kits that come with everything you need for 'princess cupcakes' etc they r quite good

*some sort of art set, like with paints, chalks things like that

*playdough

*some "boy toys"-i know you said u dont want to get toys because kids have plenty of that but if you got her something different that would normally be stereotyped as being for boys she might really enjoy it....such as cars, trains, etc...

*have u seen the little kits u can get 'grow your own seeds for kids' (or a potato head or just a small plant in a cute pot)....a childsize watering can or bottle sprayer would b nice with this. the responsibility of having something to water and look after and watch it grow would b very enjoyable and educational...

*sea monkeys.........its different

*if all else fails u cant go wrong with books or puzzles.......or what about a dress up costume. all 3yr old girls LOVE to play dress up!

*photography kit with disposable camera and photo album, different and fun

for something sentimental u could knit something or sew a picture and frame it. or get something personalised like a necklace or bracelet..........
ok im all out of ideas hope this helps :-) have fun..........let us know what u go for

Birthday gift for 3 year old girl?

Isabella's

My friends daughter is turning 3 next weekend and we will be attending her party. What is a good gift to get for her? I don't really want to spend much more than $30. My daughter is 4 and a half months old so I'm used to buying her age toys...not too sure what to get a 3 year old....help?

Answer
In my experience, the more 'commercialised' the toy is, the less life-span it has. And that is from both the point of view about how sturdy a toy is, but also about how much they will play with it. Anything that makes noise or moves with batteries really only entertains them for days or weeks as best and then they move back to the toys that allow more imagination. The simpler the better, and the toys that don't 'tell' you how to play with them.

The sorts of things that last for years are toys like building blocks/lego or simple baby doll stuff - dolls that are hardy and can go in the bath or get thrown around a bit, are easy to dress etc.
Most little girls already have a doll, but a little stroller for it to be pushed around in is always good if she hasn't got one.

Other non 'toy' ideas are things like a pretty umbrella or raincoat, bubble mix, paints or put together a craft box with things like a glue stick, coloured card and paper, sturdy children's scissors, feathers, stickers, colourful foam or pom-pom bits etc. They love this - it's great to keep aside for a rainy day or for special times when mum/dad need the child to be occupied. I have one for when I need to be on the phone without being interrupted, or when I'm trying to put the little one to sleep and need some quiet - all sorts of possibilities.

Another idea the kids love is a cookie baking kit (little boys love this too BTW). Depending on how much you want to spend, at the minimum it could have a favouite cookie recipe that's child friendly, a rolling pin and cookie cutters (try and get the metal ones as they last better - more quality and less quantity means you have a gift that will keep reminding them of you for years to come). Other things that can go in are a little apron, a mixing bowl and spoon, a spatula to scrape it clean, a silicone cookie mat for the oven, or even a cute cookie jar for their hard work to go in.

I have also had great fun putting together gardening kits for young kids too. A little trowel, garden gloves and seedlings/seeds and raising mix all put into a nice pot or herb box. herbs/tomatoes/strawberries are great because they can watch them grow and then eat them. A little watering can is also a cute addition.

HTH :-) It's so much more fun than just buying a colourful plastic wrapped Chinese made toy from Target!

Why do baby, toddler, and boys in general that are children like to play with toy cars?

DeeDarling

Why do they?

Answer
Because it's fun, same reason girls play with those toys.
But not all of them do. My 4 year old nephew has zero interest in cars, planes, trucks, etc, and rather prefers playing with Legos or art sets. On the other side of that coin, his sister who's 11 months younger, is a fanatic about hotwheels and shows no interest in dolls or art or legos.

Allowed any toy without parents placing a higher value on certain toys or pushing certain toys/play types based on gender (dolls are for girls, cars are for boys - that nonsense), children will play with whatever they like, and sometimes that doesn't fit in with the typical idea that boys naturally love cars and girls naturally love dolls and tea sets.

How would I start a sex toy business?

Secret

I would like to start sex toy line, always hosting parties and etc. Can some please help me in to where I can start this business.
I would like to start my own sex toy line, and I will always would like to host parties I would like to do all in one. I would like to have my own pleasure business

Answer
Hi, you want to start a line of adult toys? or you want to start hosting adult toy parties?
if you want to start a line of adult toys the market is already saturated in these products and the big brands have it sewn up. Unless you have a new idea for a sex toy then you will want to design, get it patented and then find somewhere other than China to manufacture.

Why no China? well if you are a small fish and get your idea manufactured in China as it's cheaper you will find a load of low cost copies on the market in no time. Also the quality will be crap unless you can afford to stay in China and make sure you are present in every aspect of its manufacture and continue to do so.

If you want to start an online party business there are plenty of franchise party plan business's you can buy into. Or you can start your own, many online adult shops have a dropship/party plan service you can sign up for. Buy the promo material (the stuff you show on the night) and start Facebooking your friends for parties. Once you get orders from your parties order throlugh the online store and get it sent straight to your customers.

Things to watch make sure the parcels from the online store have your business name as sender and none of there advertising brochures in your customers parcels. You don't want to lose your customers do you. Also make sure the products you are selling the online adult store carries enough in stock at all times so you don't end up selling stuff your customers have to wait months to receive.

Know any cool B-day party games for kids?

bn_skelly

My baby is turning 3 and we are having a small family party. We will have 8 kids here ranging from 3-8. Boys and girls and the party theme is dora. I have no Idea what kids of games to play for them.....help?!

Answer
A water balloon toss game: Fill up small water balloons, pair off kids and have them toss it back and forth. Every time they catch it, they take a step back to make the game harder. Last balloon standing wins a prize. You can do this with eggs too, but who wants to clean that up.

You can make your own pin the tail on the donkey, do a pinata, have a coloring contest, sack races, karaoke... so many fun things you can do with kids that age.

Are geeks, nerds, dorks the cool kids & adults in japan?

Jp0d

*starting off I am a geek and just curious about this for a story I am writing::

Are the comic reading, anime loving, math geniuses, D&D experts, science geniuses,,, yeah you get the type.... in middle school... high school (japan's equivalents) are they the cool kids in school? And later in Life are those who still stay strong in their geekness, nerdness, and such... how is looked upon in Japan? Is it just considered normal? are these people the Cool ones?

Really please remember I am a big geek in my late 20s so Im not trying to make a joke or anything.

Really hoping answers from people with sources they could cite OR personally saw it themselves
Sorry Caity I Definitely Didn't mean to suggest all Japanese were all geniuses just like in America. But in America often times the geeks, nerds, and such are the outcasts in schools (saw in MANY times when i was in school). The sterotypes were alive and well all through high school. So basically I am asking for the ones who Japanese consider nerds, geeks, dorks.... how are they seen in the schools? Is it any different than how Americans treat them?

And D&D is Dungeons and Dragons. LoL just another geeky america thing. Probably should have done a bit more research into this one. How does this sound: How are the smart kids treated in school? Are they not outcasts like they would be in America?
[ EDIT ]

====== FIX :: Sorry Caity I Definitely Didn't mean to suggest all Japanese were all geniuses*
and just remove the "just like in America." part
Damn suprising really... Nerds usually do the best of the rest. They usually get a nice job and will be set for life. American girls learned that one fast and will get with one just for the money.
Last Edit... But sorry usually Nerds are seen to be the smart ones. Geeks are for comic books and everything in general and such... Dorks are just those social outcasts... Nerds Definition : "stereotype of studious people with unique interests" The Person you would look towards into the MASSIVELY growing Computer industry for new recruit in the many different types of ones.... You would look mostly for NERDS.... starting salary for me was in the $80,000 JUST because i was entering a NERDY field that was growing VERY Fast and I had allll the school creds needed and more. and i got my hot wife becuase of it (sorry for the bragging)... I will always be a Geek but it was my Nerd side that be high paying job + a hot wife

Answer
"Cool" is subjective and can be different to anyone. In our school, I can hear girls saying the swimming club guys are so cool. My younger sister who is in middle school thinks guys in indie rock bands are cool. There's also some girls who think anime otaku guys are cool.
In my understanding, nerds are people who loves studying academics. Geeks are people that main interest on technology, comic books/manga, video games and anime. Dorks are the quirky, awkward and most of them are socially outcast. Atleast, that's what American media always portray about them.
There are many types of otaku (nerd/geek/dork in America) here in Japan. Otaku with severe obsession or addiction to certain things are often look down to. During my middle school, there's a male otaku who loves everything about Ancient Japan and Japanese history and he's often bullied and has no friends. I have never heard from him since we graduated middle school.

I say, forget the labels (nerd/geek/dork). People will find you cool for your interests, looks, hobbies, knowledge, skills, talents, etc.

There is funny that is actually funny. Funny that is not really funny but the person thinks they're funny. There is such a thing as too funny where you're never serious. ETC.

There are lots of variables to what funny is. In general if you have the same sense of humor as someone yes they will enjoy that you are funny.
