My friends grandson wants a tablet for Christmas. He is 8yrs. old and a fast learner and a very smart kid. He is a second grade student and makes perfect grades in school!!! He has been playing video games since he was 4yrs. old and figures out new games he gets very quickly!!! I was amazed how quickly learned how to use his DS!!!!! I would like my friends here to recommend a good first tablet for this smart young man. Not a toy tablet but the real thing for him to get started with. 7 inch would be a nice size. Thanks very much for any help I can get. This is a great kid and loves to learn!!! I want to get one that will challenge him not too hard but not too easy either!! Again thanks for all the help I can get. This kid really deserves a gift like this!!!

for a child, would you get a tablet or ipod?

ok not exactly an Iphone out of my budget. I have £100 and would like to buy my child either an android tablet or an android galaxy mp3 which is like the ipod touch. the only problem is I'm torn as to which, mp3 is phone size and has better portability, but tablet is bigger so better for seeing and mistouches on the pad. what are your thoughts?
just a few notes. I believe that being tech savvy in todays world is a good thing, there are lots of educational games available through android and I've seen how fast my son learns through a computer, and it's faster than I can teach him. I believe in limiting screen time and this would in no way replace the toys he has or books, I love books and this is a love that I am fostering in my son too, technology can be a compliment. I guess what I'm really trying to say is please no answers of "neither, children should have oldfashioned games and books like we did as children" I've made an educated decision about buying my child this item, just not yet come to a conclusion as to which, I guess that's where opinions come in and what I'm here for

It depends on how ur son is. I would probably go with the tablet..but be careful u dont want to spoil ur son...either. So many kids r spoiled now a days.. and this is coming from a kid.
