What Emergency calls do wildland fire engines respond to?

Ski12

What Emergency calls do wildland fire engines with the USFS or BLM etc respond to?, I heard they respond to vehicle fires, and obviously wildland fires, but do they respond to cliff rescues, vehicle extrication, or medical aid calls?

Answer
Injuries in the woods, fires, 4X4 crashes things like that.

Why does a fire truck accompany a ambulance to a 911 call scene?

I'm not sure if this applies to every state but I live in Arizona and I'v seen four different 991 calls for my neighbor who has heart problems and I was wondering why a fire truck always comes along even if it's not needed. Thanks!

Answer
A Fire engine is the first to be dispatched for several reasons.

1) they can respond faster than an ambulance as they are staged at a station that is close and an ambulance could take as much as 20 minutes to arrive depending on their call load and location.

2) Most Firefighters are also trained as at least an EMT and ALL engines in Arizona have a Paramedic on board and have all the required gear for ALS treatment.

3) Firefighters are equipped for breaching/rescue operations if they are needed to reach the Victim, Ambulances are not and would have to wait for either the police or a fire engine.
