Q. I need to find an emergency alert system for my boss and I.
We don't need/want anything that involves a call center, simply something she can always keep on her that she can activate to alert me if something should happen and she can't get to a phone.
Please do not suggest programs that involve a call-center, since that's not what I'm looking for.
Thanks!
Okay, I think I need to clear up what I'm looking for. I'm her personal assistant, and live on the property, but not in the main house. So, if she were to fall, I wouldn't hear her unless I'm in the main house.
We want something simple, so she can just push a button to alarm me in my apt. The longer we can put off actually using one of those systems with an agency behind it, the better. She's a very independent person.
No cell phones, no call centers, no 911. Just a direct line from her to me. Anyone know of anything?

Answer
I have to ask why you dont want a professional service. The only other option I really see is a cell phone. At least with pro services, all she does is click the bottom and there. They will get ems out quicker as well.
I normally dont recommend paid alarm services, but in the case of medical emergencies, it really is best.
I just cant think of another option than carrying a cell, that she may/may not know how to use properly.
I know you can buy like fire alrams that arent connected to a service but still hook into your phone lines to dial 911. Is there something you can do like this for her? Like an alert necklace that you can program to dial out when she presses it.
Also, if its an emergency, like medical, someones breaking in, ect.... First call needs to be 911 then you, not the other way around.
Since you worried about emergencies, here is another suggestion. Find a local non emergency number for your 911 center. Call it, and make sure they have the crorrect address and directions for any number she would be calling form. Also have them add a note about any med problems that she has.

Who Invented Emergency Alert System?
Q.
Answer
U.S. President Harry S. Truman established the CONELRAD system in 1951. After the development of intercontinental ballistic missiles reduced the likelihood of a bomber attack, CONELRAD was replaced by the Emergency Broadcast System on August 5, 1963, which was later replaced with the Emergency Alert System in 1997; all were administered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The Emergency Alert System (EAS) is a national warning system in the United States put into place on January 1, 1997, when it superseded the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS), which itself had superseded the CONELRAD System. In addition to alerting the public of local weather emergencies such as tornadoes and flash floods, the official EAS is designed to enable the President of the United States to speak to the United States within 10 minutes,
So I guess the answer is either President Truman or the FCC invented the system?
