Why are kids' toys so terrible these days?

By the Way

Every toy I see nowadays is just bad in some way. Some of the toys are REALLY cheesy and just look like such crap in comparison to what I had. Just look at what they did to Polly Pocket and Littlest Pet Shop. Now they look possessed! And Bratz is TERRIBLE! What a horrible idea for a toy.

I'm not sure why the toys nowadays are way worse for our kids in terms of teaching them bad morals (i.e. Bratz), but I'm guessing that they're such cheese now because parents are afraid that their kids my choke on the toys. Alright, I get that you're trying to protect your kids an all, but I think I'm with George Carlin on this one. The kid who swallows too many marbles doesn't get to grow up and have kids of his own. It's called natural selection. And I don't think we should let it make the toys we give our children ugly, cheap-looking, and boring. I mean that has to be the reason that toys suck so much now...

Answer
some toys have gotten worse, but others have improved. I think what's causing such a glut of awful toys is how cheap they are to produce. Toys that are made from molded plastic are everywhere. Many of them are not high quality toys that last years. Some break within an hour of when you give them to the child.

Wood, rubber, cloth and metal used to be the primary materials in children's toys. Many toys used to be handmade, or at least hand assembled. Now production costs and material costs are so low that it is no wonder companies will push out tons of awful stuff and then just see what sells and push out more of that. Of course parents end up paying much less for their kids' toys, so that's why it keeps going on despite the fact that there are many high quality toys being produced today. If parents spent most of their toy money on well-crafted toys, then that's what you'd so the mots of on the shelves.

Like I said, there are good toys out there if you're willing to pay what parents used to pay for toys. Video games have gotten cheaper and are much better than ever before. Rokenbok's will take a licking. The market for play figurines though is pretty much taken over by the junky plastic stuff.

click here if your concerned about lead in toys!!?

Q. not all chinese toys are bad most are good dont buy stuff with paint that peels if you scratch it dont buy auqua dots or polly pockets!!!!!!!!!everyone thinks all toys made in china have lead or something bad on it! thats kind of offensive ! ok!!!!!!!!thell your friens!!!!!!just because poeple made a mistake that doesnt mean you should cut off chineas toys and only buy american products !!!!!!those poeple work hard so your kid can be happy and have fun dont do that to them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...ps they are dumbos caus there too cheap to use safe paint im a kid if you keep buying american products companys go bankrupt and oops!no toys for us!

Answer
Once or twice is a mistake. Hundreds of different toys is negligence. I prefer to stay on the safe side and steer clear of chinese made toys until they get their act together. I'm not saying we should stop importing permanently. But China should be cut off until their toys consistently reach a safe rating again. You'll understand the anxiety when you get older and have your own children.
By the way, don't worry about not having any toys. If these companies go bankrupt, there are a million other companies, both American and from other, safer countries.
