We have lots of family & friends, My son is turning 1 and the guest list is about 100 people adult & children incuded. We are going to this huge park by the lake. I just need ideas. I've never thrown a party before. If your going to say negative things bring it. LOL I know he is only turning one. But this is our only son. No more kids for us because of other reasons. And we have lots of family and close friends.
Anyways we plan on having hamburgers & cake How can I decorate with Mickey mouse things w/out spending tons of money?
Also need party favor ideas
Answer
I think the first birthday should be a big deal and should be celebrated, there's NO reason why anyone should knock you. This is YOUR son to do what YOU want, and if anyone does say something to you, tell them that being you're not taking anyone's money, you own them NO explanation to what you do.
Anyway, I LOVE this theme! You can do either Mickey plates and cups and things, etc, and go to the party store and get those things, or decorate in the colors of Mickey which are the black, white, and red. You can get balloons in those colors and cluster them around the area, streamers in those colors, plates and cups, tableclothes, etc.
Make sure you get forks, spoons, knives, napkins, etc. Condiments like ketchup, salt, and pepper, and plenty of drinks!
You can cut out black pieces of paper in big and small circles to represent Mickey's head and ears and put them around on the party area. In a park it will be harder because you don't have walls and things to hang them on, but you can put it on the tablecloth and use the balloons to decorate with. Balloons are all you really need to decorate with that say festive and party! You can cluster the black, white, and red balloons around the party area and that will really make it into a party area!
For party favors, there's lots of things you can do that are very cost effective. Go to the dollar store and get:
Bubbles
Stickers
Sidewalk chalk
Crayons and little coloring books
Some candy (no chocolate, it will melt)
little sunglasses
pencils with their names on it (I've seen them at mine)
Little keychains
Little toy balls
yoyos
fake tattoos (for the older toddlers and kids)
You can wander around there and find tons of things! Once you get there you'll see tons of things, little kids love the little trinkets and toys they have there, it's like a treasure trove for them there.
If you want some games for the kids, you can do:
Pin the ears on Mickey (print out a picture of Mickey and have it enlarged. Then print out another one and cut the ears out and make copies of them, enough for each child to get an ear). Same as pin the tail on the donkey the child that gets the closest, wins!
Duck, duck, goose.
musical Mickey! You can pass around a stuffed mickey mouse while the music plays and the person that's holding him when the music stops is out. The last person there at the end of the game, wins!
You can do a find Mickey treasure hunt. Get a mickey doll and hide it somewhere in the park. Make it one that is not cuddled and you can easily wash in the wash machine or rinse off. Make up some clues and have the older kids help the younger ones find Mickey! You can even put Mickey in a box or bag and the winner can keep Mickey! Get a little beanie stuffed Mickey at the dollar store and whoever finds Mickey gets to get keep him!
I hope some of these ideas help, and that some of the decorations help. Just go with the Mickey colors and pictures of him, or see what the party stores have. You can even just cut out black circles and have them all around the area.
I hope these help and that your son has a great party and a very Happy 1st Birthday!!

WHERE CAN I FIND MICKEY MOUSE FURNITURE?
TiNuH
I AM NOT LOOKING FOR BEDDING, I AM LOOKING FOR A BED, DRESSER, ETC. I NEED A TODDLER BED. IF YOU FIND ANYTHING THAT CAN BE USEFUL/HELPFUL PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANK YOU!
Answer
I don't think they make Mickey Mouse beds and dressers, per se, but that doesn't mean you have to go without. I'd like to suggest a REALLY EASY DIY project to get what you are after. Even if you don't have construction skills, you can still make something to fit your needs. For example:
BED - Go to your local big box home improvement chain and purchase a sheet of MDF board. If you have a saw and can handle the cuts, cut out 2 circles. One, very large to cover the width plus overhang of your bed. Then cut a smaller circle in half (to resemble the ears). You can attached these with simple brackets to make the basic shape of Mickey's head. Paint it black, mount on wall and use as a head board. If you don't have a saw or cutting skills, you can purchase unfinished round table tops. The big box store should be willing to cut the smaller table round in half for you. Again, join with brackets, paint black, and mount.
DRESSER - Purchase an inexpensive dresser and paint it black. Above the dresser, mount a mirror that you've made, again with round pieces of wood in the fashion described above for the bed. Attach a round mirror in the center of Mickey's face (there are specialty adhesives and clamps for attaching mirrors), and you have a custom made Mickey Dresser. (IF you like you can embellish the dresser with Mickey Mouse stickers.)
Don't forget to add Mickey Mouse drawer pulls/knobs. Here are some from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Mickey-Mouse-Knobs-Set-10/dp/B003XLV1V0
Or, for a more sophisticated look, try theses knobs:

Finally, accessorize with Mickey merchandise. You can buy lamps, wallpaper border, switch plates, etc. You can even add a small child sized table and chair set, if so inclined:

Have fun. This can be really easy and not super expensive plus, if you make it yourself, it will be one of a kind.
BEDDING - Buy Mickey Mouse bedding (available everywhere from Target, Toys R Us, Amazon, etc)
