Today is mothers day, and I thought it'd be nice for my brother and sister (ages 6 and 4) to cook dinner with me so we can give mom a break. Does anyone know any recipes that are simple enough that they could make it with me? (if you could give one with basic household ingredients it would be great, I don't think we have any way to go food shopping right now.)
Answer
An easy meal that they could help with would be spaghetti, salad & garlic bread. You don't have to have "special" bread just use sandwich bread-butter it, sprinkle on powdered garlic and put it in the broiler a minute or two on each side. The salad would be easy for kids as they can tear the lettuce put it in bowls you can chop the veggies they can add them. Spaghetti sauce from a jar and pasta.
Another would be a simple tuna casserole with a salad and again bread. You would need tuna, cream of mushroom soup, egg noodles, cheese.
How about a pot roast (can be just about any roast you have that has been thawed) add potatoes, carrots, onions slow cook in crock pot or oven have the kids do a salad and again bread.
How about breakfast for dinner? My Mom used to make that for us and she and us kids loved it. Pancakes, french toast, eggs & potatoes w/toast.

kids cooking activities?
ammy
i lead an infants kids group on a friday afternoon at church (yrs K-2)
this week, the activity is Cooking Chaos
i need to prepare the activity so the kids have a simple, yet fun thing to make
any ideas??
it needs to be relatively cheap and easy to make
and also.. it needs to be catered to around 40 kids
the bible talk is based on "Loving God's people" so i was thinking of getting them to make
something to do with people or love
anyway, any ideas will be greatly appreciated :)
thanks :)

Years ago when my kids were really small (about the age of your kids' groups) they made bread in Sunday School. I remember it well because the teacher borrowed my electric skillet. What food can be better than bread for a Bible class?! The following recipe sounds very close to what they made. Very easy and fun.
