vacation car ride with 3 kids....?

crazy_cat_

So next month we are going on vacation. The car ride isn't real bad, but with 3 kids I want to keep them as entertained as much as possible about 4-5 hours. We plan on leaving early early in the morning. Hopefully they wil sleep but knowing them they won't. Anyways. We have a portable dvd player we are taking, coloring books, books, smal toys, and we loaded the mp3 player full of their favorite songs, they also have snacks and drinks. We are going to stop at every rest area and let the stretch their legs. My kids ages are 9 months, 2 years and 3 years old.

Can anybody think of any things else I should have packed and or get for them. We are staying in the hotel for 5 days, but we have lots of things planned. But I am also open to any other suggestions for them.

What did you bhave planned for your kids when you went on a long drive somewhere, or on vacation?
We want to stop every chance we get, to make sure my sons have clean diapers, and a fresh bottle. And also if he eats in the car I want to wash out his bottle everytime. 2 years ago when we took our last cacation we didn't run into a lot fo rest stops. We live in Ohio and we are going up to Michigan

Answer
Portable DVD player is the greatest invention for long car rides! Last summer we did a 5 hour drive and this next summer we'll be driving for 2 days on vacation. Coloring books and some small toys are good as well as snacks and drinks. A toy my daughter had great fun with was this fold open magnetic book and she could play with that and i didn't have to worry about the toy getting dropped as it stuck right to the book.

I think its a little much to stop at every rest stop though. Depending on where you're traveling, you'd be stopping every hour. I'd just play it by ear on how the kids are handling the trip. For my 5 hour drive we stopped once. It may also be a good idea to pack lunch the 1st day. This can save money and is not hard to do.

Best powered riding toy for 15 month old?

What are your thoughts?
Hi, Clay! Thanks for answering. There are actually a few models out now designed for the younger kids.

Answer
I dont think that you should give a 15 month old a powered toy just yet. But around 3 or 4 years i would suggest you get a Powerwheel for him, they're made great and are super fun for little kids. Hope this helped!
