I see kids ages like 9-12 (Sorry kiddies but that is children) doing everything except play with toys lately.
I see them on cell phones,or 10 yr old girls dressing like hookers wearing way too much make up. I have even seen kids that age walking down the street smoking like its no big deal. They even talk about sex like they really know first hand what its like. ( Kinda scary I think)
Is it just my area here or are kids now a days trying to grow up too fast?
whose to blame for this?
When I was that age I was playing with cars,He-mans, Gi Joes and that sort of thing.
cancan: you gave me an idea for another question.
Answer
Kids toys are different these days - cell phones are the new "walkie-talkies". They play video games of cars, he-man, and GI Joe.
As for the "grow up too fast" argument, there are a few things going on that really don't go well together.
Twelve year olds have more knowledge (as you pointed out) about sex and other adult topics than newlyweds did a few generations back.
At the same time, the children aren't responsible for their actions as they are still children. Unfortunately, parents are limited in their right to discipline their children and many lack discipline themselves.
So, children remain children despite their abundant adult knowledge until long after they should've become adults. The nation is full of 20 year old children, and 12 year old girls dressed like hookers.
What's the solution? Turn off the fking TV and talk to your kids. Teach them responsibility. Be open with them about them becoming adults. Don't close your eyes and mumble abstinence - it isn't reasonable and it doesn't work. Instead, validate their emotions and facilitate their decision making.

Buying toys for your kids?

My son is really big into the re-release of Indiana Jones and of course like anything they have released the action figures to rake in even more money on the deal. He really wanted the Indiana Jones action figure from the movie and I told him if he cleaned up his room I would buy it for him. Well sure enough I got a call from my wife on my way home from work telling me that his room was spotless (and in record time LOL) so I should pick it up for him on the way home. So I stopped in at our local Wal-Mart on the way home and low and behold now that the movie was out you can't find them anywhere... just the other characters. I searched high and low... nothing, so I headed across the street to Target. Nothing on the shelves, so I asked a manager, and eventually I was able to convince them to check in the back and open a new box and sure enough... happiest kid in the world is under my roof now LOL. What lengths have you had to go to find a toy your child wanted?
Answer
christmas 06 the bouncing zebra was hot well we live in a small town and well they was sold out so i called walmart one last time and the lady said they had one more. So i said i headed the 45 minute trip to pick it up. Well the lady at walmart was nice she told me were she hid it so i could get it. Well i got there went to the toy section and it was not there. I knew someone else had found it. So i just started looking for a new toy as i knew i would not find it. Then i spotted it and well i followed that lady around the toy department. Well she parked her buggy about 10 feet from her husband and that was all that was in the buggy and told him to watch it. Then he walked to the next isle well i took that buggy and ran to the check out and headed to the car then came back in to shop and that lady was telling her husband off that was the last one walmart was getting and so i was glad and my daughter used it then my nephew no my little cousin has it and i am fixing to get it back finally then i can give it to my friends daughters little boy
