What would you most likely purchase from an online baby boutique?

Sade

I am launching an online baby boutique business on May 1st & I am looking for input about what customers would most likely purchase from an online boutique. Most of my inventory will include items like Diaper cakes, baby gift sets & items one would purchase for baby showers but I'm wondering if my customers would buy other items that I may not be aware of. All suggestions accepted & there is a special perk for the 10 most useful suggestions.

Answer
Here's ten things I would buy online but they might not be under a boutique in your eyes
1. Johnson and johnson diaper rash cream its 2 dollars at dollar general and is the best
2. Bulk diaper s cheap
3. Dvds for baby
4. Toys
5. Cute crib sheets
6. Cloth diapers
7. Burp cloths
8. Socks at a discount
9. Useful items like mats for under highchair..carseat toys ..mirror for car
10. Maternity shirts you could make with iron on transfers...with funny sayings..also baby clothes with funny sayings...please email me with the address of it im looking for diaper cakes :)

Answer
infant seat about $75.00-100

crib w/ matteress price varies, if you plan on having more babies don't buy a cheap one, they don't hold up.
crib sheets and blankets. (bumpers etc are cute but not practical.)
mobile or a crib toy that plays music with soft lights, comes in handy, when checkin on baby in the middle of the night about $30.00

I prefered the moses basket at JcPenny's, order online, for about $30
to a basinet, but both are optional

Pack n play can be substituted for basinet or moses basket too and very practical, years of use about $100.00

diapers and wipes get 1 bag of newborn and 1 bag of size 1 to start. about $20 per bag, I prefered the pampers swaddlers.

Breast pump if you are nursing, again if you plan on more babies don't chince here, Medela pump in style is the way to go! (about 250-300)

formula if not nursing and bottles, your choice really, I used Good Start, but my babies used formula at about 9mos

spit up cloths, cloth diapers work great for this about $10

one peice sleepers 100% cotton about 10 each onsies under 10 for a pkg of 3. Go for the newborn size, they are smaller than 0-3mos and baby won't be in them long BUT it is nice to have something that fits well to begin with, may still be "big" on a 6#baby,

NICE outfit for baby's first pics in the hospital. I have good luck finding this at herbergers. about 20.00

baby shampoo and lotion, stick with unscented to start with, most newborns have sensitive skin.

desitin, I like original most prefer creamy, but it you have to deal with serious diaper rash original is the way to go!

These things are the basics and will get you started, you will also want to consider a swing (I have 4 kids and a 125.00 swing that none used long but many new moms swear by a swing), few toys, a baby gym for baby to lie under, I couldn't have survived without a Bumbo for my babies, a diaper bag (I didn't include it in the above list cuz most hosp will give you one but you may want a larger one) Pacifiers, again hosp usually sends you with one. My pediatrician prefers nuk, I liked the mams, babies choice tho. baby monitor, swaddling blanket is also useful, bottle brush, again not a neccesity but makes you job easier, 0-3mos baby cloths and jammies These are good things to ask for for your shower.

And for YOU!

pads-lots of them!
nursing pads and a nursing bra if it applies
nupercaine cream in case you tear or need stiches, it effectively numbs the area so you can pee! LOL
Gerber also sells hot/cold reuseable breast pads to help with engorgment.

I hope this list helps you, I have listed what you will NEED above with extras that are helpful too below. CONGRATS!!!
